i have been on seretide 250 inhaler 2 puffs twice a day for as long as i can remember, anway after seeing asthma nurse she suggested trying flixotide 250 twice a day (i think they are just trying anything now as it has been a rough few months and been on pred for ages!).
I am just wondering whether you should take both together as i thought they were the same kind of drug and you could only have so much of it.
I have been using it for a week and it seems to have made some difference and if it gets my pred down that would be great.
Seretide is made up of serevent and flixotide, serevent being the long acting brochodilator and flixotide the preventer. The only problem with the combination inhalers is you can't increse one component without incresing the other.
Your asthma nurse obviously felt that you needed more preventer and put you on the flixotide to avoid you overdosing on the serevnt component of the inhaler.
I have bumped up a recent thread on increasing flixotide for you.
I was on flixotide for years but felt it stopped working, doc then put me on seretide not great and lately he tried symbicort. Ended up in A @ E ,realise seretide was working better for me. Different inhalers will work for some ppl , hope you get asthma sorted
