Happy new year!! Confused newbie here...
Hi all...firstly, I can't believe I haven't discovered this forum before! I've had asthma since I was 8 (that is to say, it was diagnosed when I was 8 - the doctor at the time said he thought I'd probably been undiagnosed for a couple of years prior to that) and I now also have 2 of my children diagnosed

Keeping one's mood up
First, a big thank-you. I stumbled on Asthma UK during an internet search earlier this week, and have been reading through many of the posts and discussions here. I've found them quite helpful. I am currently working though a longish asthma exacerbation that started with a cold at the end of October

Very confused
Hi everyone, hope you all had a fab Christmas, and are keeping well. I'm writing this message because I am very confused (as my title suggests!) about my recent visit to my GP. I had an emergency appointment booked in as I couldn't get a normal appointment when the phone line opened at 8.30am, an by

Some advice please?
Hi, my son is 4 years old and is taking 2 puffs seretide 50 twice daily and 4mg montelukast. For almost 2 Weeks he's been suffering from a cold, he is needing around 10 puffs of ventolin so that he can sleep because he coughs so much that he is sick, and needing roughly 4 puffs throughout the daytime

Going home for christmas please help
My parents have cats (my trigger) and whilst living at home I had some tolerance to it I guess. But since moving out going home is a nightmare, for a few days before going I take my seretide 250, nasal spray, both drowsy and non drowsy antihistamines, i might as well have taken nothing. What can I do

Hi all I'm new on here although I have been asthmatic for at least 18 years and been plodding along ok until recently. For the last few months my asthma has worsened and my peak flow has been at the 240-260 mark which my gp put me on 7 days of prednisone and advised me to double up my seretide 250

What Medication Are You Taking? And What Side Effects Do You Think You Have From Each One?
Each time I visit my Dr's surgery to ask for a repeat prescription I forget what I am meant to be taking, should'nt they have this on the computer? It takes a couple of visits to actually get these ordered because I get there and forget to bring them with me. It doesn't help when the receptionist wants

Fed up
Hi I have been on Symbicort 200 and 400. I found Symbicort really helped with my asthma after struggling for 6 months on various other inhalers. Unfortunately my asthma is yet again playing up badly and I am having 'attacks' at least 5 times per day (where I have to use my reliever and often at least

Symbicort 200/6 SMART therapy
Hi, have met brilliant respiratory specialist nurse today, and she mentioned that she loves this medication, and it might work well for me. I am to continue for now with seretide 250 and singulair, but I was wondering who has had experience of this therapy - I must admit it sounds good, I'm the sort
