How do you know if you're antibiotics are working yet?
Hi all, I'm in my 4 th lot of antibiotics for a chest infection, now on the 4 th day in. I'm also on pred 20mg for two weeks, 3 rd day in. So far my breathing sounds no better, in fact I would say it might be a bit worse. I saw the respiratory specialist on Thursday last week who said the whole of

Badly controlled asthma help?
Hi all, am new to this site but I was hoping someone could give me some advice/ relate to my experience? I never struggled with asthma at all as a child (despite it running in my family) and was only diagnosed in January 2017 following a severe chest infection. From January 2017- September(ish) 2018

I was given combivent Salbutamol/pratopium 2.5ml today by GP for use in home nebuliser & instructed use of 4 times a day..I have never used a home nebuliser before & I left surgery without asking or being advised if I should still use my blue reliever between times... Advice needed please asthma cough.
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what's going on with my asthma cough. Ive had adult onset asthma for about 15 years now. I changed from the brown preventer to Seretide about 6 years ago and it's worked really well. Until that is October last year, my cough flared up and my GP

Seretide cause neck pain?
Just after some advice please. My mum is a long term asthmatic and until 7 weeks ago it was fairly well controlled with brown inhaler and pink inhaler (I’m not sure if the names sorry). Anyhow, she had a chest infection and was on doxycycline and prednisolone which cleared it but asthma was out of control

Still struggling advice please !
Ok this could as long as my arm but I’m going to try and keep it as short as possible. All started with blotchy skin back in October 2018. When ever I touched my skin anywhere on my body it goes all red and blotchy for about 20-30 mins. Couple weeks later my skin started being really itchy, I would

Consultant appointment today
Yes I went to my appointment today. He is considering conditions that mimic asthma as I do not have family history of asthma only allergies and excema and hayfever. He said it does look like asthma but then he said infections can mimic asthma also. Now I am wondering! He also said about doing spirometry

What treatments or tests from here?
So I am 40 and since having my second child in September I have had 3 exacerbations (also 1 bad one in pregnancy). I was sent to ambulatory care today as I am on day 10 taking 40mg pred a day, and still acutely ill. I was on Fostair 200/6 and am now trialling Seretide 50/500 to see if it gives better

So here goes, hello I am Natasha. My daughter is five years old on Sunday. She is un-diagnosed and has carried out lung function tests which have determined she is not asthmatic by consultants now at Derby and Great Ormond Street. I suspect I've developed an allergy to steroids.
I'm 66 and many years ago I was prescribed Seretide and at that time it substantially improved my health and did so for many years. Over the last few years my asthma control has not been so good and it's been consistent regardless of location/environment etc. In recent times when I've had a chest infection

Seretide
Hi everyone, I have been on seretide 50 for years and it has always worked well for me. Due to cost cutting at my surgery I was put on Fostair. This didn't work for me and I've been put back on seretide, however I've just noticed that I've been given seretide 250 and not seretide 50. I'm assuming seretide

New asthma nurse
Yesterday I had my asthma review at my doctors surgery. I was really happy to find out that it was a trained asthma nurse. I have had practice nurses before this in the last couple of years. I had a really good one two years ago but she left. So she asked how I have been, did my height and weight, checked

Seretide and adrenal insufficiency/exhaustion
Has anyone experienced adrenal problems due to the steroids or inhalers they’ve used for their asthma. I’ve just had my cortisol tested and it’s flat lined. I’ve been reading online that too many steroids and high dose inhalers of particular brands can be the culprit. What’s your experience please.

Salbutamol/ventolin asthma
I think doses/puffs can be confusing as it depends on what strength we are discussing Ventolin /Salbutamol (blue inhaler). I take a 200 microgram Salbutamol turbohaler. Even having asthma in the family it took me 4 years from my first asthma attack at 15 until I was finally diagnosed at 19. I have
