Taking oxygen away!
No longer need oxygen after 4 years. FEV1 is 61. Do the Dr take in account that the test taken is given at rest and when exercising the oxygen level goes lower with just walking no housework, etc. I can hardly breath after going up stairs. At rest my oxygen is usually 96 with exercise even with meds

Return of childhood asthma/GERD
Hi I’m after some advice. Having had asthma since being 5/6 I got to age 13ish and stopped using any preventative medication just salbutamol on exercise/symptoms. Stared with really bad GERD possibly to be treated by surgery. Gastro surgeon asked GP to do spirometery and reversibility before surgery.

Albuterol Sulfate
If you have had your heart checked by a MD and you use Albuteral Sulfate, this can cause the chest pains. When I have the problem I drink a small bottle of water and the chest pain is resolved in a few minutes.

New Gal on the Block
Hi everyone. I'm looking forward to getting to know you. I've had asthma a long time, I think. It's usually mild, but last year wildfire smoke put me in the emergency room. I'm having a bad flare up due to the same thing. I know next to nothing about asthma and would appreciate advice on how to reverse

Visiting..and news
Dear BLF friends🦋, Bea and I have had to move out of our nice ground floor flat because of the works starting soon so Aria has been quite unhappy and grumpy😾, the balcony will not do it! I said to Bea we have to programme things differently next time but it’s done now! It has been very hot in Geneva

breathing test to see how I manage without my asthma meds
I have quite bad asthma which is being treated by a hospital consultant following flu I had last year which caused a serious asthma exacerbation, and had a breathing test today (I think it was a spirometry) as my consultant wants to see how I manage without my inhalers (not very well). My consultant

Smokers triggering asthma, everywhere. Any management strategies?
I have cough variant asthma which is currently not well controlled at all. I am waiting to see a specialist but that isn't until the 10th September and unable to be moved forward despite going to a and e. Cigarette smoke is one of the triggers and I struggle just walking around towns and cities. I currently

Breathless but no wheeze
Hi, I’ve been sporadically breathless lately but doesn’t feel like my normal asthma. I’ve taken my inhaler but all it’s doing is loosening phlegm and making my voice hoarse. I take salbutamol but think it may not be working any more? Any thoughts

Difficulty sleeping, wheeze, and avoiding those paramedics!
It was this time last year my asthma decided to become brittle. I spent over a month with attacks on and off,in and out of hospital and over 6 weeks on steroids. I'm much fitter now and am running but am waking wheezy and breathless again. My tolerance to exercise is also starting to wain. I take my

Asthma History
I was a prem baby (2 lb 7 oz) in 1963. I had severe asthma until I was 9 requiring 12 weeks in hospital age 8 (Llangwyfan ‘chest hospital). No problems at all for many years then age 48 I got an awful chest infection requiring steroids and was given 2 inhalers (salbutamol and cleanup). I’m 54 now and

Hi all, hope you're all well. I can't seem to find a breath? Ribs really hurts is that to do with breathing? I know doctors said I'm gathering to much mucus and that's the problem. I'm on incruse once daily and docs changed me back from salbutamol to a brown one. Just come off the antibiotics and steroids

Struggling - any advice?
Hi all, I've had a constantly tight chest (to varying degrees) for six weeks now. I've been off work for most of that time and struggle with basic daily tasks. I'm due to see a specialist on 31 July so am hoping they have some answers but in the meantime I'm really struggling, especially at night, and

In Answer to Your Hoarse Throat Question
I noticed that Symbicort made my voice hoarse. My doctor gave me a plastic extender for the inhaler and when I use that it helps this problem. I don't know if other inhaled medications cause this and I am trying to find out if it is safe to use my albuterol nebulizer while I have laryngitis?

2 year old with pneumonia and potentially asthma?
Hi, I'm new here and a mummy to a two-year-old girl who has just been discharged from hdu following a very severe episode - high work of breathing that didn't respond to salbutamol nebs or oxygen on the mask. In the end she turned around slowly with the help of airvo and magnesium sulphate. She was diagnosed

Do I even have asthma
Hi guys. I'm hoping to find someone with a similar experience to myself. I suffer with pretty bad allergies and take a lot of medication to manage this, including the use of Montelukast (Singulair) to control the allergic wheeze (asthma). As my allergies stand, all seems to be ok and well managed for

2yr old with monthly hospital admissions and steroids
My 2yr old son is admitted to hospital every 4weeks for his increased work of breathing. A couple of nights in hospital, steroids and nebulisers usually sorts him out, until the next month. He is on montelukast, cetirizine, salbutamol (as required) and has tried all preventive inhalers (including those

Inhalers
Anyone else having problems getting Salbutamol and Flixotide prescriptions. Never had any problems in 27 years at this surgery, new doctors now and I can only request within 7 days of items running out - how can you tell how much is left in salbutamol? They are questioning dosages I take of all meds

Another quick question:
Anyone know how many puffs of salbutamol you take when using the inhaler with a spacer? I haven't thought the inhaler was working for me for ages and have been using a nebuliser for delivery but my respiratory nurse is encouraging me to try again and not use the nebuliser as apparently the receptors
