Resp Cons.
I think this is going to be quite a lengthy post so here goes.. Last year my paediatric respiratory consultant said I would have to move over to adult respiratory consultant. It took 5 months for my paeds consultant to write to the respiratory team to ask whether they would take over. I was no longer

Recently diagnosed after a chest infection
In July 2011 I had a really bad chest infection that left me struggling to breathe properly, I was wheezing and coughing and sounded terrible and really struggling for breath. I went to my GP got antibiotics, went away, chest never cleared up, went back. Got given Salbutamol (said I could not have Prednisolone

Stopped meds
Over the xmas period I had a cold and really bad throat one of them that makes you gag every time you take your inhalers as it sticks to the back of your throat so I stopped taking them. My cold cleared up and Ive had no asthma sysptoms at all and for some reason never got back onto taking them again

Mikes been diagnoased :(
my bf was having really bad coughing fits with his hayfever. He went to his doctir yesterday and the poor mites beed dignosed with hayfever related asthma and given a bricanyl 0.5 inhaler (which i believe is stronger than the salbutamol (which i take with beclo ans serevent) so it must be serious) thing

What to do now
Hi Everyone I'm struggling a bit at the moment. I had colds last October, November and December! I needed oral Steroids in October but that was the only time I had them in 2011. In the new year I felt like I'd got a constant cold and the Asthma was playing up, especially in the mornings. My GP thought

Asthma attack in a jacuzzi
Hi Everyone I have asthma and am currently well controlled on Seretide and Montelukast. I've not had any Prednisolone this year (needed 4 courses in 7 months last year so a vast improvement) I like to swim 2-3 times per week; this is fine but I've noticed recently then when I get in the jacuzzi after

Should the pred have given me more improvement?
Hi Everyone, this is going to be a long post! I should be on Seretide 125 2 puffs twice daily and Salbutamol PRN. I'm hopeless at remembering to take my preventer and usually 'get away with it' However, I got an cold in early December which caused an exacerbation; but again I got away with it by having

Doubling of inhaled steroids
Hi Sorry, I have another question. Each time I have an exacerbation I get told in double the inhaled steroids. I know this advice is very old and thought that this advice had gone out of favour recently. The other problem I have is that since I am on Seretide, when I double, I'm also getting double

Unwell again!
Hi Everyone I know there are lots of knowledgable people on here so asking for some of your advice I have a history of not been terribly compliant with inhalers (seretide 125 - 2 puffs AM and PM) However, I learned my lesson when I needed 2 courses of steroids in August and for whe whole of August

Not improving as much as I should
Hi Everyone Just a quick query as I don't seem to be improving as much as I normally do after an exacerbation. I got a cold on the 5th March and immediately doubled my Seretide, but on the 15th March I needed to start a 5 day course of Pred. On the 17th and 18th I was admitted to A & E and given nebs

Stay on Seretide or switch to SMART
Hi everyone I'm currently using Seretide and have 250mcg twice daily. I'm also on Montelukast and only rarely needing the Salbutamol. So far I've not had any Steroids this year, have an exacerbation at the moment, but that is because I have a cold. This is in comparison with last year where I needed

Rescue Prednisolone at home?
Hi I'm currently on Seretide (125) 2 puffs twice a day, Montelukast 10mg and Salbutamol when required. One of the worst triggers for me is getting colds. I've tried doubling the Seretide or just using a separate Flixotide inhaler to increase the steroid component but I still run into problems. I don't

Frustrated with GP
Hi Everyone I'm aksing for advice and useful information. I had a cold about 10 days ago which caused my asthma to worsen, more coughing, shortness of breath, falling peak flows. I saw a GP who advised me to double my inhaled steroids (I'm on Seretide Accuhaler 250) so have been having 2 puffs twice

Asthma connection to hypothyroidism?
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis in 2004, in spite of not having any of the antibody tests to my knowledge... my GP merely presumed this diagnosis and I was treated accordingly with replacement Thyroxine (the cheap and cheerful stuff...). I had a cold about a year ago, during which time
