Rhabdomyolysis in a patient complicated with hypopituitarism and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome and the literature review
A frequent suggestion here on Thyroid UK forum is that exercise depletes T3. Seems quite reasonable and there is some evidence - even if much of it would be dismissed as being anecdotal. Here, however, they have a case of rhabdomyolysis, which they pin on hypothyroidism (among others). Yet the treatment

Finally Got The Call
Hello Everyone, It’s been a while since I’ve been on here; probably about 4 years now. I think that was when I was going on APD I asked for advice. I did go on CAPD, then APD. Unfortunately, after 2 really bad peritonitis and a lot of drama, my peritoneum failed. I was immediately mapped for a fistula

Hepatic Encepalopathy medications (Lactulose and Rifamixin OR L-ornithine and L-aspartate)
Which medication would be better to treat HE. The doctor is giving my mom L-ornithine and L-aspartate. My mom has HE and is suffering from delusions which are getting worse. I told my sister that Lactulose is a common medication to treat HE as I have read on the internet and told her to ask the doctor

Change from adeport to envarsus
So this evening marks 3 weeks since hubby's liver transplant, however Tuesday he was readmitted to hospital after blood tests revealed potassium was too high. Today his adeport was changed to envarsus which is taken once a day as it is slow release & he was discharged. Just wondering if anyone else has

A year and four months out...
Was your transplant from a living donor or a cadaver? I remember getting a call from the Emory Transplant Center at about one o'clock in the morning telling me they had a matching kidney and to get there within four hours. This is my second kidney transplant, the first was from my mother.

Can I donate?
Hi everyone. My father started dialysis 2 weeks ago. He is on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. I still would like to ask whether I am able to donate my kidney to him. He says it wouldn't work because we share the same DNA.

The Good and Bad
Bit of a long post... My dad has had Parkinsons for several years now, started with a left hand tremor which has progressed to slow movement, some shuffling (though not as bad as some), and stiffness. The neurologist has had him on Pramipexole, Rasagaline, and Kemadrin for the last few years. Unfortunately

My "Osteoporosis" Journey
This is just copy and paste of an account I wrote to keep track of things for myself. Please note I have no medical training and I haven't checked to see if the web links at the end still work. I think most will. Adding June 2024: Importance of Vitamin C in collagen formation. Here is an article which

Potential Prograf Shortage?
There is an article in the Business & Money section of today's Sunday telegraph about pharmacies having trouble in supplying some key medicines. The article comments specifically on Epipen, but also "specific treatments for a host of serious conditions". This concerns me as having had a liver transplant

So many questions
I have so many questions to ask but my doctor doesn't have a few hours to answer them all. For instance why aren't people told that their kidney function is in decline by their doctor until they start getting symptoms or get to stage 3. This seems cruel and wrong to me? Why is your creatinine level

Kidney Transplant after Liver Transplant
HI Has anyone had to have a kidney transplant after having a new liver. My husband had a liver transplant in Nov 2017 and his kidneys do not seem to have recovered. Worst case scenario is a kidney transplant which is freaking him out. Would be grateful for any advice?

Can someone give me some advice.
I got on this forum because of my niece. She is the one that has the kidneys failing. She is in the hospital and just started dialysis. The dialysis is not cleaning her blood. They want to do a blood transfusion. The question is will this change the results of a kidney transplant, will the new kidney
