Rifaximin and meat
I have been diagnosed as having mild hepatic encephalopathy and prescribed Rifaximin by my HEP. to clear toxins from my blood. I have read that I should only eat a little meat but can't determine what is a "little?" I am trying to eat more vegetable proteins as well as lots of fruit and veg. Can anyone

Pain!
I had a bit of a fall off the old wagon last weekend celebrating a family birthday and then the match the following day. Thought I'd be fine seeing as I'd felt great and hadn't had any beers since the Festive period. Wrong! Since yesterday I've had discomfort on my right-side and felt nauseous at times

I miss my dad so much😓
Its been near 7 months, since I lost my dad from hepatic encephalopathy stage 4. What I seen on that final day still haunts me, i cant seem to get by it at all. Decomponsated Liver cirrohsis, is a very cruel condition. Once it progessed, day by day, my dad just started to waist away, infront of my eyes

He does not want to go back into hospital, which I totally understand. He is not able to have a transplant and has

My dear husband aged 74 has been diagnosed with NASH De Compensating Cirrhosis of the Liver. He has ascites which needs draining every 2 weeks. First of all I do apologise for my " poor " English but I am not a UK citizen.I was diagnosed with alcoolic fatty liver ( apparently stage 1 ) 6 weeks ago and since then I am questioning myself. I cut down alcool, eat healthier as much as I can, and keep on exercising myself as I always do. I manage

Rifaximin
Still having a battle trying to get Rifaximin prescribed on the NHS, the cogs seem to move so slowly .... so I took the private prescription in to the chemist and we now have four weeks supply for £320! Whatever it takes, that was ten days ago and meantime together with the lactulose, it does not appear

Please don't judge me I'm a hard working 32 year old male. Today I had an ultra sound the nurse giving me the ultra sound must have been quite experienced as she was teaching another nurse and they were quite thorough. When she finishe her actual words were "all done everything is normal but you have

Palliative Care
At what stage should you initiate palliative care for someone who has stage 4 cirrhosis (end-stage)? Does the GP need to refer them for palliative care or can this be initiated yourself? Worsening fatty liver?
Hello, I am now here and I wonder if anyone can share their wisdom. 2 years ago I went to my GP with upper right pain under my ribs and he sent me for an ultrasound in that general area. All was fine except it was noted I had a 'mild fatty liver'. On looking at my history and what alcohol I consume

Non alcoholic fatty liver disease
Hi, I was recently told (16th December) that I have NAFLD. This kinda worries me a bit as I don't know much about it. This was found on a MRI scan (mrcp) for another condition. I have had a genetic blood test and a liver function etc done and as of yet not got the latest results. Hopefully the results

Cirrhosis just diagnosed loads of questions
Evening all. I was diagnosed today and whilst I was able to ask some questions I have loads more. I'd welcome any answers you might have. Is it usual for them to assume it is alcohol related? I ask because I did have a problem for a couple of years drinking 1 to 2 bottles of wine each day but I was
