Are oral steroids a good substitute for preventer inhalers ?
After getting asthma two years ago,I tried some preventer inhalers. However, some worsened my breathing problems, while others used to totally block my nose. That made it impossible to breathe through the nose,or to sleep. Finally,I started using oral steroids.Been taking 40 mgs. for several months now,and

How to drive and go out when inhalers don't help ?
My asthma attacks cannot be controlled by inhalers,I must use a nebuliser. However, that makes it very hard for me to drive and go out.In my city,I haven't found any portable nebulisers which can be used in the car. Those are much smaller than regular nebulisers anyway. Anybody else in a situation where

Qvar question
Short version: possible Covid back in March, persistent breathlessness helped by salbutamol, was put on Qvar 50 2bd. 5 months on, docs are still saying I'm post-viral and can come off it any time, but every time I try, my lungs feel sore and itch intensely as if I've got mosquito bites inside me. Beclometasone (powder)
Hi! My GP has asked if I'd be willing to switch to the powder form of beclometasone. I agreed, however when I inhale , I don't have the sensation that the powder is coming out of the inhaler at all! Is this normal? (I have clicked to release the powder before inhaling). Thanks 😊

Going back to my childhood... (Nightmares)
Hi all, I've been on Fostair 200/6 for 5-6 weeks now, I was on the lower dose of Fostair before. Has anyone had vivid nightmares on their steroid inhalers? Forgive me for the long story.. Let's turn back time. I was around 7/8 when I saw the film 'The Witches' at primary school. There is a prominent

2 runs
I have two runs to catch you up on, neither very interesting. The problem I'm having all the time now is asthma. It wasn't an issue all summer, but now it is a real pain. My legs feel good, my heart feels good, but my breathing is a struggle from start to finish, even slow jogging. I have recently

I know this is gross so apologise in advance. I am on antibiotics (due to finish today) and steroids, also on 3 diff inhalers. I have been coughing this stuff up all day, not sure if I should ring the doctors or if I’m being dramatic? My chest feels tight, am wheezy, my peak flow is 250 though so above

Unable to use Inhaler in front of people
I know my issue might sound silly to you but I am having great difficulty to do it. I am asthmatic and I will have symptoms almost everyday. I am able to use my Inhaler at home inside my own room without difficulty. But once, I need to step out of the house to run some errands or to go to work, I

Any advice on how to tackle W5R3 when you are asthmatic?
I’ve managed to complete Week 4! Yay! It’s taken me 6 months to get this far! 🤣 I had never run before in my life, and my calf running muscles were so weak I kept straining them initially, until a physio told me I had to take the programme really slowly and have more than one rest day to recover and

Is Fostair 100 mild or strong?
Is there a stronger version of the blue inhaler Ventolin? As mine is 100 and I've seen another which was a 200? Also,is Fostair 100/6 a mild or a strong inhaler? I'm suspecting I need stronger meds as whenever the weather is windy and rainy (which is quite a lot) my breathing is very bad. I've been

Waiting to run, Day 2.
This is driving me nuts. NUTS, I tell you! Yesterday was run day, and conditions were perfect for me, calm, warm and sunny. I had my kit on, really keen to go. There was just a small matter of a call from the asthma nurse to get out of the way first. So, I waited. In my diary I'd written 10-6. So I didn't

High rate after just standing and walking.
Hi, I'm 29. For months, I've had a high heart rate after just standing and walking around the house. No anxiety. It goes between 150-200, just standing up walking. I then feel very breathless I wheeze. I've tried steroid, inhaler and allergy medicine. So it's obviously not asthma. Hospital hasn't been
