High rate after just standing and walking.

Hi, I'm 29.

For months, I've had a high heart rate after just standing and walking around the house. No anxiety.

It goes between 150-200, just standing up walking. I then feel very breathless I wheeze. I've tried steroid, inhaler and allergy medicine. So it's obviously not asthma.

Hospital hasn't been able to help, I've had an echo, it's says grade1 diastolic dysfunction. That said that shouldn't be causing my symtoms. And they said there no medicine to help DD anyway .

I think I'm dealing with "cardiac asthma" and not classic asthma.

Or maybe pulmonary hypertension, I asked them about that at the hospital. They said they don't think I have PH, even though I've never had a cath done before.

Have you thought about going private to get some better testing and answers? NHS everywhere in the UK is devoting 95% of their attention to the pandemic and coming flu season but everyone who has gone private recently has said they are seen quickly and receive immediate attention to their symptoms.

BONUS: I worked my entire career in the US, my late husband did as well, and we raised our two children there - the children, now grown and raising their own families still live and work in the US. So I have more than a passing awareness of how US health systems work.

Right, so the first question is do you have health insurance and what does it cover, or are you enrolled in Medicaid? Some policies permit holders to 'self-refer' to specialists (like the cardiologist you really need to see for better investigation regarding your symptoms) as long as the specialist is in the policy network. Other policies require holders to be referred by the GP who will choose a specialist within the network. If you're using MedicAid, again, it will be your GP who can refer you as MedicAid users cannot 'self-refer'.

Otherwise you will have to go completely 'out of pocket' by telephoning around to cardiologists looking for one with reasonable consult fees, a good education (choose one trained in the US, not a graduate of one of the 'foreign diploma factories'), affiliated with a good reputation hospital, and having good reviews from patients on review sites not connected to the practice or hospital.
