How much do people pay for their Asthma inhalers? Mine are $350 a month with my insurance. I am on Advair.

That is so awful. Where do you live? Have you checked with your pharmacy whether you are eligible for a rebate?

I have been able to go online and get manufactures coupons. It’s pretty easy and most of the time it makes for a $0 copay. My Pharmacist holds the coupon for a year.

Blimey! I'll never moan about our NHS again! That's an awful lot of money. As I'm in the UK and over 60 I don't have to pay for mine anymore.

When I did pay, I found that it was best to take out a regular annual payment that could pay off monthly on the credit card. It covered all the medication I needed and was a much cheaper way of doing it. Of course, that was NHS too, and I don't know if you have any similar schemes where you are.

I see that Thebird has mentioned coupons. Don't know anything about those, but sounds like a plan if you can get them.

My doctor recommended Advair, but the cost is not a possibility. A friend gave me their Symbicort because they don't want to use it. I apreciate receiving it. It does help me start my days. Infrequently, I may need a puff in the afternoon, but not lately. The prices of drugs make it impossible to stay well

You need to research, and then ask your doctor for help, getting your inhalers and other medications through the companies’ compassionate use programs.

Be prepared — each company requires different kinds of paperwork, some send the medication to your doctor to dispense while others send it to you. Some require all kinds of financial information to prove that you can’t afford it (even with insurance). And some require you to go through all kinds of paperwork every few months.

BUT if you need the medication —DO IT! These exorbitant prices are charged by corporations with no clue how difficult it is to manage all this. You have nothing to be ashamed of — it’s the fault of the corporations, the insurance companies, the politicians, and the ignorant voters who allow this system to continue, despite the fact that it costs lives!!

Wow, what a difference! Mine (also Advair) is about eighteen dollars, co-pay, replacement cost, and I have no insurance to pay for it. My pharmacist arranged it, so I don't know the details.

Not what you're looking for?
