First stay in hospital with asthma
I was admitted to hospital Wednesday after having trouble with uncontrolled asthma for three months. I had used ten puffs of ventolin. Sat quietly for half an hour and was short of breath but not majorly struggling. I then had to go upstairs to the bathroom. Big mistake. By the time I came down

A new inhaler (Anoro) has made life a lot easier and I went for a rollator walk today. I sighed again when I got here. If there was a decent surface on it I could, with the rollator, walk up it to the playing field and village hall. But the authorities, despite many years of pleading with them, will

Prednisolone how long does it take?
Hi, I've recently had an asthma attack due to inhaling some van clutch fumes. I've had tests done in a hospital and after a few trips to a and e the doctors they said it should go with my relevant inhalers. Smybicort and now a tablet montelukast are what I'm taking. The doctor has given me prednisone

Hypersensitivity
My husband takes Beclometasone in inhaler form . He uses in the morning, two puffs. He has been told to use again in the eve. He reacts badly . He can’t sleep , moods changeable, all very distressing. Is there anything else that he can use . He was given a steroid once for a chest infection and reacted

Allergic to inhalers. Is there an alternative?
Is there an alternative to inhaling the clenil and salbutamol? They give me so much trouble. My job is lecturing and I constantly have a croaking voice due to the inhalers. So I stopped taking them. I recently restarted and still the same problem but also, I have the most dreadful sore tongue and

Bit of an update and a query
Hi all, hope you’re doing good. So I went to back to the GP after a week of prednisolone, peak flow diary and ventolin and he thinks from the steroids and ventolin helping me and the ups/downs of the peak flow that I may benefit from a preventer inhaler and to see an asthma nurse. He said I will need

First time posting on here.
So the past couple of weeks I thought my asthma was playing up. Breathing getting difficult etc. Then I have realised it's not my asthma but seems to be some form of acid reflux. I do suffer from heartburn odd pain in chest and that. So...... Last week I was placed on prednisolone again 40mg for 5 days

Sodium cromoglycate
I have just received a letter from my consultant saying they are going to ask my GP to start me on sodium cromoglycate inhaler and uniphyllin. I am currently in bricanyl syringe driver due to being taken off uniphyllin 18 months ago as my stomach no longer digests and I vomit tablets up. This consultant

How long do side effects last after stopping using inhalers
I switched over from Flixotide to Qvar 10 days ago to check if my burning back pain is related to flixotide. My asthma seems to be less controlled on Qvar so I will probably need to go back on Flixotide. From your experience, how long did side effects from asthma inhalers last after you stopped

Has anyone been switched from QVAR to Kelhale?
Hi, I've been on QVAR100 for a few years now and it's one that has really worked well for me. I recently had an asthma review where the nurse said I was doing well and to keep going as I was. Today I received a letter saying they are switching my inhaler to the cheaper brand but am I within my rights

Worsening asthma during peri menopause/menopause?
Has anyone’s asthma gotten worse during their peri menopause. I have had asthma since my mid 30’s and had very little problem managing it up until recently. I don’t have any coughing or wheezing, just a tightness under my chest and then shortness of breath. It gets a little better when I stand up.

Does anyone have a 2 year old with viral wheeze/asmtha?
Millie has been suffering with viral wheeze episodes from the age of around 1 year, she was prescribed the blue inhaler for these attacks and ended up in hospital 3 times with it and has also had a chest and throat infection on separate occasions. From 18 months (Jan 2020) she was given the brown preventer

Has anyone with Lupus had Covid?
I was just wondering how unwell people were if they contracted Covid. I’ve had a few scares as I have asthma and when it gets bad and I contact the Dr they imply I have Covid. But all I really need is a stronger inhaler which has been really difficult with all the side effects.

Medisafe app
Hi, earlier this year I was prescribed a lot of meds and was worried about forgetting to take them at the right time of the day. I then found a great phone app - Medisafe. It's easy to use and reminds me when it's time to use my inhaler or take meds or when my meds are running low. Makes life so much

Elevated liver enzymes - methotrexate? Asthma inhalers? Overweight?
Hi all on this grey and windy day, hope you're keeping cosy! I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation to me: I had an early repeat blood test on Friday as my last one showed raised liver enzymes. Just got the results and they are raised again, so I have to book another and was told I

Options for multiple severe asthma exacerbations
I am getting to my wits end and hoping for some good ideas from this great community. I suffer from severe asthma. In less than a year I have had 8 chest infections: 4 - required steroids 6 - required antibiotics 2 - were COVID like but were not, though I did receive codeine for 1 one of the flare-ups
