Scary times
Hi everyone New to all this and it's quite scary. I'm 61 and have recently be diagnosed with multiple bilateral pulmonary embolisms and left sided pneumonia. Had Heparin and now on Warfarin. INR is not stable but then who's is? ... This forum's a great idea and you've all educated and calmed my ignorance

SEVERE COPD
Hi I've just been diagnosed with severe copd. I am 44. I was a smoker but I'm on nicotine replacement now. I also work as a fragrance consultant. I was shocked to be told I had it as I always thought it affected older people .

Have bronchilitis adult, and now working on half lung volume. My daughter's feel exercise will restore them and don't understand illness.
Does anyone else have family who don't understand lung damage is unrepairable. Finding it hard to get them to understand and as such they think it's a mind over matter thing. Consultant not suggested exercise.

Coming off blood thinners before birth.
I am now 35 weeks pregnant and have been on 150mg aspirin and fragmin throughout pregnancy. Baby is growing well and so the plan is to come off my aspirin at 36+2 but keep on the fragmin except the day I have my cervical stitch out at 36+4 then induce at 38+2. So in total the max I will be off my aspirin

New drugs against warfarin
I know this question has been asked before, but how many are on the new drugs? I would love to know the outcome of these drugs as I want to come off warfarin as they cannot tell me conclusively if I have AF but have stuck me on warfarin anyway. I am fed up with the diet aspect and also the bloods taken

FVC% Predicted.
Think I might have asked this one before. Should your FVC% Predicted be high or low. In 2012 it was 114% (fev1% predicted 79%) now it's 127% (fev1% predicted 81%). I was always under the impression your Lung Volume Figures were good if close to the 100 mark. I tried the on line lung volume test

Ibuprofen and Emphysema
This article appears recently.......has anyone received more information:- Temple University Hospital is participating in a multi-site, nationwide phase II clinical trial that is testing whether ibuprofen can reverse the effects of emphysema. Temple is one of only three medical centers in the country

Hello everyone! I've just joined the community. I was wondering if anyone else has Thrombophilia? I've recently been diagnosed with it and have been told that it explains my stroke when I was 23, DVT's and Pulmonary embolism. I had my DVT and PE last November and had Clexane for a while and am now

Just quick question.
Is a FEV1/FVC OF 79% a good one? My FEV1 is 81% predicted. My FVC is 127%. My GP said I was to ignore all other figures on my Lung Volume Test as you would have to be a maths teacher to work it out. I was advised the most important one to watch was the FEV1. Just going through my old paper work

Converting from Warfarin to Rivaroxaban
My GP said stop Warfarin for two days then start the Rivaroxaban. My last INR was 1.7 and from what I have read it seems you should start Rivaroxaban when INR is 2-3. Any thoughts?

I'm taking rivaroxaban. My my urine is dark brown with traces of blood. What does it mean?
I had pulmonary embolism 3 weeks ago. I'm on the first 21 days of rivaroxaban. Two days ago my urine turned dark brown with traces of blood. I take gabapentin (neurontin) for lower back pain (1200 mg/3x a day). Is there any interactions?

Odd facts you may be unaware of.
1. My husband and I divorced over religious differences. He thought he was God and ...... I didn't. 2. I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it. 3. Some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them. 4. I used to have a handle on life, but it broke. 5. Don't

I started Warfarin in March and live in New York. I don't love the testing and diet restrictions. What are the generic alternatives?
I am becoming aware of Fragmin through this site. Is Fragmin a generic form of Heparin? Are there any alternatives in generic form that do not require testing and diet restrictions? I have APS and am being tested for Lupus. I had a stroke in March. I am ambulatory, initially lost my speech but have

Possible misdiagnosis-3rd time lucky?
OK so I have had 2 doctors tell me I have early stage emphysema, thing is though, I have had symptoms that really don't fit into the early stage picture. This has led me to see a 3rd doctor, a lung specialist. On my initial visit last week he seemed quite confident in telling me I don't have Emphysema

Tudorza
I started using tudorza 12 days ago. I must say, I'm quite impressed so far. I try to go to the gym everyday. I usually do 2 miles but on 2.5, and sometimes struggle. Today I did 2miles on 2.9 and was hardly out of breath. I also use symbicort for my asthma. I tried spiriva for my copd, but it actually
