A reason to have both ?
All three agreed to either: 1 Radical
prostatectomy
followed by 6 to 8 weeks of radiation treatments and hormone therapy or 2 No surgery followed by 6 to 8 weeks of radiation treatments and hormone therapy. What am I missing here?

He said either monitoring it or a robotic
prostatectomy
is the route. I am so afraid of dying that ED doesn’t really affect me right now. I will do anything to be free of this and never revisit this. I’ll Even get a penile implant to inflate my penis.

Truvada
He did not get a
prostatectomy
. He goes to MD Anderson and they have done at least two scans on him--in 2017 and this month. MD Anderson "can't find where the cancer is" so he is on no medication other that Truvada. I assume that MD would use the latest scan technology.

Recurrent Prostate cancer post prostatectomy, salvage radiation and now 1 pelvic lymph node metastasis. What to do?
My husband had a
prostatectomy
in 2007 at MSK, age 57 with Gleason 7, contained to the prostate. PSA was 0.01 through 2013. Unfortunately, his primary doctor did not notice a rising psa over the next few years. In 2016 he discovered his psa had risen to 1.4.

Shortly after surgery, I happened upon the following document from the American Urological Association: Adjuvant and Salvage Radiotherapy after
Prostatectomy
: ASTRO/AUA Guideline, published in 2013.

In a new randomized, controlled clinical trial - 4000 u of Vitamin D supplement daily slows low-grade prostate cancer
"Hollis wondered if giving these men vitamin D supplements during the 60-day waiting period [prior to surgery] would affect their prostate cancer. His previous research had shown that when men with low-grade prostate cancer took vitamin D supplements for a year, 55 percent of them showed decreased Gleason

gone forever?
First recommendation (I will have second opinion in 2 weeks) radical
prostatectomy
, including both nerve bundles, followed by radiology treatments. I have the same initial questions everyone must face. How long will the incontinence last and are the good old erections gone forever?

Radiotherapy & second primary malignancies.
My
prostatectomy
[RP] of 14.5 years ago was not successful & so I had salvage radiation. I was told that there would be an increased risk of a second cancer - but not within the first 5 years.

Incontinent Products - Penile clamp
1 week since robotic
prostatectomy
and totally incontinent. Doing some research on incontinent assist products and came across the penile clamp. These products seem to provide enough control so you can at least get to the bathroom before your bladder empties on the floor.

Meeting with Radiation Oncologist to discuss treatments after persistent cancer after Radical Prostatectomy (RP) with PSA of 0.8 - Gleason 7
The results were: 6/14/18 - Robot assisted laparoscopic radical
prostatectomy
and bilateral pelvic lymphadenectomy - Gleason 4 + 3 prostate cancer with tertiary 5; acinar type - extracapuslar extension; + lymphovascular invasion; no seminal vesicle invasion; negative surgical margins;

Fresh robotic prostatectomy
57 year old very active and fit. After being treated for prostatitis with elevated PSAs and not getting a rectal exam to check for nodularity or tumor. Decided to change providers who immediayely did rectal exam and found a tumor. After my string of Biopsies and MRI’s Gleason 4+4. Agressive cancer.

Switched to Advanced Group. Post-RP. G9. Stage 3Tb.
In December 2017 I opted for a robotic-assisted
prostatectomy
at a world-class US hospital. According to the surgeon, pathology done during the procedure revealed invasion of one seminal vesicle. I assume this persuaded him to cut wider.

After surgery and now PSA 0.8 - what's next?
I made my decision to have the prostate removed over radiation treatment. 6/14/18 - I had robotic assisted laparoscopic radical
prostatectomy
and bilateral pelvic lymphadenectomy - now Gleason 4 + 3 which was a lower Gleason score.
