Zytiga - Abiraterone - To take or not to take right now
I had a radical
prostatectomy
over 6 years ago. 5 years later, on Dec 2020 I was diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer. I had a mass on the prostatic wall and tumors and nodules that had spread in several parts of the body including bone lesions in the femur, sacrum and the left clavicle.

Adjuvant Radiation Therapy After Radical Prostatectomy Decreases All-Cause Mortality
PURPOSE Adjuvant compared with early salvage radiation therapy (sRT) following radical
prostatectomy
(RP) has not been shown to reduce progression-free survival in randomized controlled trials.

Afraid to take Xtandi
Had a radical
prostatectomy
in 2004, 38 radiation treatments in 2010. Now his recent PSA is 3.0 and bone Mets in the pelvic area. I am frightened for him too, not only if he starts taking Xtandi but also if he doesn’t.

My journey with PCa
I elected to have robotic radical
prostatectomy
at the end of March 2020. My prostate, semilvascial and 11 lymph nodes were removed. 1 lymph node contained cancer. My grading was T3bN1. I postponed further treatment until I healed and recovered from incontinence (got to zero pads).

Will the need to pee five or six times per night ever end?
I had 42 follow-up radiation treatments which ended about nine months after the
prostatectomy
. I suffered terrible urinary leakage for two years, soaking six or more depends daily until I had a urinary sling put in. Basically, it failed so I had an artificial spinchter installed.

Radiation or RP for capsular contact?
Prostate is around 35 cc so SBRT is still a good option as is radical
prostatectomy
. My MP-MRI showed a 5 mm capsular contact. A surgeon says he can still likely save the nerves on that side but if there is any doubt he will have to cut into the nerves on that side.

After radical
prostatectomy
, clinical trial of chemo, and external beam radiation, the psa slowly rose until about 4 years ago, when I began Lupron injections. The psa went down, and has risen to a current 2.5. In a few weeks I will meet with my urologist and make a plan for the next treatment.

Question for those who have undergone
prostatectomy
: My surgery was 20 months ago and I'm overall very happy with the results; at least as happy as one might be having been diagnosed with cancer. My sexual functioning has returned to about 80% pre-surgery and continues to improve.
