Stopped pred recently and not so bushy tailed.
Hi, I am fortunate to have stopped taking Prednisolone nearly 3 weeks ago. I feel a bit more tired this week and generally a bit stiff in my muscles - however weekly yoga seems to help with the muscles. Also I have continued to have sore muscles in my chest and slight pins and needles feeling in

After blood results, so many new things.
No wonder people develop eating disorders while on
Prednisone
. We're "keeping an eye on the head pain" which usually starts after a taper and then settles back down, although I don't have GCA according to biopsy, ophthamology and the powers that be. A slight rant.

Have I got RA ?
Hi I have been taking Prednisolone for PMR for 18 months and now on 5mg each morning under the care of a Rhuematologist . I have had Osteoarthritis for a good few years mainly in my finger joints . My Dr is now questioning if I have RA because my middle finger on the right hand is markedly more swollen

Stop Actemra for good?
I am down to 4.5 mg of
Prednisone
. Started at 15 a couple of years ago. Have had about a year of monthly Actemra infusions (monthly infusions not weekly shots). I don’t feel different after them. Why shouldn’t I stop taking them?

Dexa results
I have just received my dexa results after a year on Prednisolone and Risedronate. Lumber spine is normal, but left hip and left neck of femur ( they only scanned the left) show Osteopenia. I understand what T scores and Z scores are, but I got three figures for each site, and I wondered if anyone knows

State of the NHS
I’m posting this just to highlight the difficulties the NHS is in at the moment, I’m a 75 year old asthmaric and have had a cold and chesty cough for nearly 3 weeks. I finally decided this wasn’t going to clear up by itself. There was no way I was going to get an appointment with my GP any time soon.

My PMR Journey so far
I eventually got
Prednisone
prescribed after a second visit to the GP and started taking a 20mg dose daily on March 30th. Within a couple of days I started to experience some relief from the pain and stiffness. Feeling much more optimistic about things now.

COVID and discontinuing Actemra
Have been off
prednisone
for over a month now and doing well. Tested positive Saturday for COVID (thought it was a cold). I am still taking my weekly Actemra injections, the last was Friday. The Actemra information sheet suggests discontinuing shots if ill.

Post Operative Steroids
I am now home after having a new knee fitted. They kept me in an extra night due to being in surgery much longer than anticipated and low sodium levels, so saline drip overnight. I am guessing I was given more anaesthesia than planned, I am finding that I am more tired than I've ever felt. I can

? Cover required for endometrial biopsy
I have been on prednisolone for over 2 years now and still on 10mg. I have a hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy planned tomorrow and although this is only a minor procedure with no general anaesthetic or sedation, I’m just wondering whether I will need any extra steroid cover? Does anyone have any knowledge

GCA flares and eyesight
Thank you to everybody on this site – I have found it very helpful. I was diagnosed with GCA in September. I have to say my GP and Bath Hospital were excellent though it was a shock. My sight tested OK in the Eye Clinic. I started on 60 prednisolone reducing, and I am coping quite well, but I am paranoid

max inhaler dose?
Hi everyone. I saw the hospital respiratory team about a month ago, who said that it is ok to take 5 puffs rather than the suggested max 4 puffs Fostair 200/6, as a kind of last resort before prednisolone. I’ve taken a lot of steroids this year and am trying to reduce the number of courses. However,

Actemra and aches and pains!
I was put on Actemra about 3 months ago and have dropped as prescribed i.e. 1mg per month. I have had GCA for 14 years and was stuck on 14mgs of prednisolone for some time. It has been a struggle at times but a few weeks ago I noted I was beginning to ache in my muscles and joints similar to fourteen

Flare or Adrenals waking up
I was diagnosed with PMR October 2022 and I am currently down to 4mg Prednisolone ( down from 4.5 on 3/11). Since Monday I have been waking up around 4mg with pain in my hips. Not excruciating but definitely enough to keep me awake for a while, now getting pain in shoulders as well. This goes after

GCA flare dosage
I've had GCA and PMR for 10 months, on Actemra and was down to 9mg
prednisone
. When I went from 9 to 8.5mg I had a major flare and went up to 15mg. The flare continued and Rheumatologist said go to 20mg, maybe 25mg. After 2 and a half weeks on 20mg I thought I started to stabilize.

Go to the Emergency room to get prednisone?
But what if the doctor somehow never gives me a refill of
prednisone
, I have been on it almost 3 weeks now. Could I go to the ER and explain I must have some
prednisone
, and take my referral papers with me? The hospital ER is the same Riverside health system as the PCP.
