53y female, Prenatal vit with my 11am lunch to try to thicken my thinning hair, T3/6am (hr before breakfast), T3/3pm, gyno Rx progestin only
Long title but just joined. My first post here. Trying to get answers! My recent schedule has been: 6am - liothyronine 25mcg pills (T3 or Cytomel) 7 am - breakfast (Dr. Axe, bone broth protein shake and scoop of Collagen Peptides mixed with coconut milk or almond milk) I see the drink provides 5 percent

I had my thyroid gland removed 18 years ago due to papilliary thyca and have had various issues over the years, most, possibly due to taking highish doses of levo. I have recently had a raft of blood tests and wondered if I could post them for some advice. I also wondered about the iodine issue and if

Screening & too much bad news
This is a continuation of yesterday's post: "68 Ga-PSMA & too much bad news" The concensus seems to be that men want to hear bad news. Which is what one would expect from men who might have died by now had they not been screened for PCa. But I have to defend my GP who no longer automatically does once-routine

Should I ask for PA test?
I’m not sure what to do. In 2016 I had low b12 reading and doc advised loading doses. I have recently had gastro issues and had an endoscopy which looked normal apart from slightly lax valve. I was diagnosed with Graves in 2003 treated with RAI in 2005. I’m worried about PA as Endocrinologist wrote

Urine infection treatments for AF sufferers
Hi all, last year I suffered with a urine infection and in desperation went to the chemist and bought some sodium citrate (popular remedy for symptoms for cystitis). Within literally one minute of drinking it I was in full blown AF. After spending one of the worst nights of my life with AF and terrible

RAI
Hi all, next Tuesday I am going for an uptake test for RAI. Just wondering about the length of time you need to be in isolation for afterward. How have you felt after having RAI? I have been suffering with Graves for twelve months and the Carbimazole is not working. I have a nodule and goitre and antibodies

Primary therapy of Graves' disease and cardiovascular morbidity and mortality: a linked-record cohort study
The importance of "early and effective control of hyperthyroidism" is probably of no surprise. Just good that it is in black and white. The difficulty I have is the "early definitive treatment with radioiodine". In the limited abstract, I cannot see anything which explains the apparent recommendation

NDT first blood test results
Hi all, I moved to NDT couple months ago. I was on T3. I have no thyroid due to RAI so was keen to try the NDT for all the hormones. I have just had my first blood results back. They look like I’m just in range but still got a suppressed TSH TSH <0.01 (0.35-3.5) Free T4 9 (8.0-21) Free T3 4.1 (3.8

CT Scan with Iodine Contrast
On Tuesday, I will be having my annual follow-up CT scan for lung cancer. My oncologist has ordered it with contrast, which certainly gives a better picture of what is going on. However, a) I have had an allergic reaction to the contrast in the past (hives). The doctor has prescribed desamethasone

No salt? How’s your iodine level?
I keep reading about everyone trying to keep their salt to a minimum and that’s understandable, but does anyone worry about their iodine levels, because iodized salt is where most people get iodine, unless you are a big eater of seafood. You can take extra iodine in liquid form or kelp pills but you

Daughter 16 had a hemithyroidectomy. The removed nodule was cancerous
Dear Members, Some of you might remember that I had mentioned about my 16 year old daughter has hashis and that she had a nodule. Her her fna biopsy result was thy3f and therefore we were given an option to go for surgery or just wait. We decided to go for a hemithyroidectomy. We had a follow up appointment

Radioactive iodine treatment
I have had hyperthyroidism for over two years now and my Endocrinologist wants me to have Radioactive Iodine because i might have low white blood cells seems to me not a good reason to have RAI which usually results in having Hypothyroidism (which most do) is a bad idea anyone else had the same dilemma

Iodine in Food
Hey guys, I've been trying to cut out gluten, soy and dairy and up protein and fibre, I eat a lot of prawns, tuna and eggs, but I've just seen that iodine could be bad for thyroid issues - are these things people add to the 'avoid' list? I'd have to totally rehaul my diet again!
