Huge anxiety 2-3 days after Radioactive Iodine treatment
Hi, I hope someone can help/advise. After 2 1/2 years on carbimazole for Grave's disease (5mg for the last year or so), I've had RAI. It was administered on Tuesday, I felt ok until bedtime on Thursday - settled in bed but felt paniky, very conscious of my heartbeat and breathing, felt the need

How do you manage to work?
I am currently off work, contemplating my future, trying to work out my next steps. I am unable to cope at work due to fatigue symptoms following thyroid removal, RAI and a recent reduction in levo dose. I’m waiting for a GP appointment to see if levo can be increased despite endo saying symptoms aren

Update re: decision on RAI
Hi everyone, I posted last year regarding feeling nervous about being referred for RAI. I just thought I'd update on my situation. I didn't go ahead with it and I am so glad I gave myself some time to do further research and to adopt a wait and see approach. My TSH was low but perceptible and my

Graves and muscle pain
Hello, I was diagnosed with Graves in 2012, responded extremely well to Carbimazole. I relapsed in 2019, and in 2021 and now in 2023. I’m now 52 and a half and going through menopause with dry skin and eyes and global muscle pain. I was of course tested for Sjogren and other autoimmune disorders but

If Putin uses nuclear weapons, how can we treat radiation poisoning?
Potassium
iodide
is a salt tablet that helps block radioactive iodine from being absorbed by the thyroid gland. Most nuclear accidents release radioactive iodine, which is absorbed into the body.

Hello All, I have been diagnosed by my GP as being hypothyroid, possibly autoimmune. I'm reluctant to go on pharma drugs, as I prefer to go down the natural route using iodine and supplements. Has anyone else on here done that? I'm currently reading 'The Iodine Crisis' by Lynne Farrow. 'Overcoming

Autoimmunity
Hi a quick question about autoimmunity. Recent Medichecks blood tests showed the above and came with this comment "Your thyroglobulin antibodies are positive. These antibodies are associated with autoimmune thyroid issues, especially Hashimoto's." I started off overactive c22 years ago then had RAI

Spirulina - any advice or experiences?
As you can see from previous posts, I have struggled to bring my iron and b vitamin levels up for a while, despite increasing my intake of both supplements...this has led me to look at spirulina as something that could possibly help, as there are quite a few reviews of this product from people saying

Help interpreting Medichecks Advanced Thyroid blood test
Hi there! Would any of you be willing to help me interpret these results? I have been on a strict gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, soy free and low iodine diet for a couple of months and have felt A TON better. These results bear this out. Genetics Specialist??? Why?
Hey all! I hope all is well. So a bit of backstory. I am DX'd with Lupus (beginning stages but on Meds etc). I have had crazy reactions to CT Scan iodine which isnt that uncommon, however, when I do, it directly hits my feet (after shoulders and arms which goes away fast) and then I get the skin

RAI or continue on Carbimazole?
Does anyone know the long term risks of staying on Carbimazole? I have been told that the Radioiodine treatment is the gold standard of treatment, but the articles online talk about increased risks of cancers. I am on 5mg Carbimazole and have been for 5 and a half years, with 3 monthly blood tests. Twice
