I was told by a friend who is a nurse, that if my consultant gives me a blood card (request form) which I then take to the phlebotomy room for the nurses to draw the blood, if I write on the blood card "Please forward results to GP" with my GP practice code, then the lab who receives the blood sample

I have never done phlebotomy nor have I used blood thinner ever. my EPO is 12.4 i am jak2 negative my ferritin is low. BP is fine. Back in 2017 Ultrasound of abdomen was fine. sometimes i feel headache, pins and needles. ( but very less), not really tired. I am lean and also do workouts.

He said my blood isn’t bad enough to start phlebotomy (bloodletting) which can cause other problems like high iron. He wants to put me on low dose aspirin or plavix to help thin the blood. I told him I would have to check with my hepatologist. I have sent him a text through the patient portal.

PCV has risen to 47 and I am now having a phlebotomy every 6 weeks or so to keep it below 45. Back in 1985 I had two small children and I just got lucky that I did not have any kind of thrombosis. My girls would have suffered without their Dad.?

I am getting more blood tests done but ca't get a phlebotomy appointment for a week and a half! Its very concerning as my GP instantly started talking about genetic reasons for it. I have no history of hypothyroidism or genetic reasons for raised ferratin in my family.

For reasons best known to the phlebotomy department, my CA 125 result had either not been recorded or wasn't done and although my consultant says that imaging trumps a blood marker, I’m still not impressed. I’m having it done again on Tuesday, just before chemo.

My next appointment was at 10am at the phlebotomy department I was early and arrived at 9.30am and they said they might be able to get me in early.

Wed Fri and the 75 mgs of aspirin each day, after 9 pills, today I had a hospital appt, and my platelets are down to 571, very relieved, my haematocrit is 519. no phlebotomy as iron level is low, will see the haematologist in 2 weeks.

Just a word of caution for anyone doing their own (Medichecks etc) blood tests via a Partner Clinic - in my case my local NHS Hospital Phlebotomy dept. The blood was taken efficiently (good!) and she offered to send it off for me, but I wanted to check it thoroughly so I took everything away.

I'm desperately sick of taking a ticket and spending hours in the hospital phlebotomy queue. I know you can buy your own machine, but for a few appointments per year, I'd rather save the £300+ and just pop to the Drs for occasional appointments!! ny suggestions would be grsat.

I was planning on going first thing this morning to the phlebotomy clinic. However I was on autopilot and made myself a coffee.

I feel Much better after the first phlebotomy and I am interested in having another done soon. I am concerned that the iron levels have created a problem with my pituitary gland which caused the problems with my periods.

My dilemma is my local surgery only takes blood on a Wednesday therefore it would be a week before, on Saturdays there is no phlebotomy service in my town. I may have to take time out of work, take a round trip of four buses and have bloods on a Friday which will still mean 5 days before.
