PV and/or ET - JAK2+ - currently asymptomatic
This is my first posting with the support group. I was diagnosed with PV in March 2018 where at that point my hematocrit was 62 and of course the hemoglobin was also elevated. However, all other data within the CBC were normal to near normal at the time of diagnosis. After four (4) phlebotomies of the

Good news!
For reasons best known to the
phlebotomy
department, my CA 125 result had either not been recorded or wasn't done and although my consultant says that imaging trumps a blood marker, I’m still not impressed. I’m having it done again on Tuesday, just before chemo.

Looking Back
Luckily because I insisted on my own test, the
Phlebotomy
were alerted and phoned the surgery probably to ask why no action had been taken due to previous result (I am assuming). It was the
Phlebotomy
unit who phoned the surgery re the results on 26.11.07.

CAUTION! when using partner clinics for blood tests
Just a word of caution for anyone doing their own (Medichecks etc) blood tests via a Partner Clinic - in my case my local NHS Hospital
Phlebotomy
dept. The blood was taken efficiently (good!) and she offered to send it off for me, but I wanted to check it thoroughly so I took everything away.

Looking for a GP with INR equipment in Croydon, Surrey, Uk
I'm desperately sick of taking a ticket and spending hours in the hospital
phlebotomy
queue. I know you can buy your own machine, but for a few appointments per year, I'd rather save the £300+ and just pop to the Drs for occasional appointments!! ny suggestions would be grsat.

I was planning on going first thing this morning to the
phlebotomy
clinic. However I was on autopilot and made myself a coffee.

Hemochromatosis and B12 Relationship?
I feel Much better after the first
phlebotomy
and I am interested in having another done soon. I am concerned that the iron levels have created a problem with my pituitary gland which caused the problems with my periods.

Blood test prior to Rituximab.
My dilemma is my local surgery only takes blood on a Wednesday therefore it would be a week before, on Saturdays there is no
phlebotomy
service in my town. I may have to take time out of work, take a round trip of four buses and have bloods on a Friday which will still mean 5 days before.

Doctor making complaint against a good endocrinologist because he emailed me requesting another blood test
Why an official complaint, now I have to contact the endo. and then he has to ring or do a letter and fax it to the surgery so the doctor does a referral to the
phlebotomy
service.

I'm new here. All red blood levels are elevated. I've one mutation for Hemochromatoses. JAK negative. Migraines with visual loss are worse.
I'm having a hard time getting
phlebotomy
done. Migraines with visual loss/aura are worse when Hemoglobin etc is elevated. Itchy, night sweats are crazy. Joint pain, blurred vision, weight loss, legs go numb often. Cramping in feet is painful.

Anyone got haemochromotosis?
So the treatment is
phlebotomy
- venesection where they bleed you to bring down your iron levels to within the normal range. If untreated it can cause cirrhosis of the liver even if you don't drink, and I haven't drunk much for years.

Lancet help
I do wonder if they have both done this to make us use the more expensive
phlebotomy
options. But that would make me spend less as i'd get everything I could on nhs then only basic tsh t3 and t4 private. Whereas now I get all thyroid, vitamins, fbc etc private. So frustrating x

Newly Diagnosed (9/2017) with PV and ET
She has been conservative with
phlebotomy
so as not to lower my iron levels too much. And though I'm not the fireball I used to be, if I get enough sleep, I am still able to do everything I've always done. I look forward to following others who have MPNs.

Need some coping advice.
I will need another
phlebotomy
next Thursday and dreading it due to low iron. I have been ill with a severe sore throat, so sore that I had to dig my nails into my palms so that I could swallow. Terrible cough and only sleeping 2 hours a night due to throat. Was put on three weeks of antibiotics.

Selenium methionine and Total Thyroidectomy
I've received SO much help from you all over the past couple of years! I had a total thyroidectomy 30 years ago. Didn't really have problems on t4 only until about 4 years ago, when it was discovered I have hemocromitosis and began regularly having phlebotomies which depleted the iron overload but left
