Bling Part 3 and a bit
Well 3 months post endobronchial valve procedure it was time to brave the M60 in the baby smart car and head off to Wythenshawe, the M60 is our northern equivalent of the M25 only less posh being oop north we only have 3 lanes and it floods a lot in places,so much for the much proclaimed Northern power

Lung Transplant list ...
Hi all, A while ago I posted that my mother is going through assessment to be on the transplant list ... now after what felt like an age we went to sign the papers ... I am happy but also very apprehensive about the worst case possibilities... They still need a week or so to do more internal checks but

My 20 year old son has adhd, and depression and he refuses to take medication. He also had a liver transplant at age 10!
His father and I had a tumultuous relationship, DV, and emotional and verbal abuse by both of us, all of my only child’s life ! My son is not working because he says when he applies for jobs online no one calls him back. He never talks to me about anything really so I don’t know what’s going on with

Transplant list
So today I took the first step for getting on the kidney transplant list. I attended a series of meetings. The first meeting was with a transplant coordinator, then with a social worker, then I met with a transplant surgeon and finally with a kidney dietician. It is so surreal for me. I was diagnosed

reduced intensity transplant
If your over 50 and need a stem cell transplant it most likely will be low intensity. It also goes by mini-transplant or RIC transplant. It is NOT a standard stem cell transplant. all your cells are not replaced. you keep most of your own blood cells and have donor cells added to fight your cancer cells

Stem Cell Treatment
A little while ago I mentioned that liver transplants could one day become a thing of the past. Day by day the use stem cell treatment and research brings us closer to finding a cure for liver disease. HIV positive man in London becomes second person ever to be cleared of virus after stem cell transplant

Liver transplants
I was talking to a friend of mine about my liver problems and she thought that I may be too old (I'm nearly 72) for a liver transplant - is this correct? Thanks, Ron

Ways to Reduce Cyclosporine Toxicity
One of the worst threats to the survival of kidney transplants is the toxicity to the kidneys of cyclosporine. Many scientific studies have shown that the amino acid arginine, which is widely available as a supplement, can prevent graft loss due to cyclosporine toxicity. However, a study in using arginine

Paracetamol does not work
Hi all Following on from another post regarding paracetamol I noticed that almost every sub-thread includes at least one response along the lines of “safe, negligible side-effects, painkiller, better than x, just paracetamol etc etc ”, and despite posting a link to one of the most trustworthy research

Rejected for Liver transplant
Unfortunately my wife got the bad news last night, that she is not being offered a liver transplant. I did ask why she has been turned down & it was revealed she was unable to complete the necessary physical tests, but I believe it is a combination of her age 69 & the fact that she was not strong enough
