Goodbye and thank you
Hi everyone I am sorry to say that my husband died 10 days ago. We knew it was our last Christmas together and he was home on Christmas day which was what he wanted more than anything. He was diagnosed with SCLC in April 2018 so we had 21 months together after diagnodis which is more than a lot of people

Removing body clock gene protects mice against pneumonia.
Removing the clock gene BMAL1 makes bacteria-engulfing defence cells in the body more effective, a University of Manchester and University of Oxford study published in the journal PNAS has found. This is the first time a clock gene has been found to affect resistance to bacterial pneumonia, a fatal

Lung Transplant for BO
Today is the day! I am meeting with my Lung Transplant team for the very first time. I have Bronchiolitis Obliterans. My only expectation is that they will give me a list of things to accomplish. If they don't, then I will know that there is no transplant ahead in my future. I am 63 years old. I am so

Pulmonary fibrosis
My sister in-law has RA but was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis this past September. Has anyone else experienced this and what course of action was taken. My SIL is on oxygen 24/7 and is on a lung transplant list. Anyone have similar issues?

Any Experience with Tocilizumab and GCA?
I am reading that it may reduce the likelihood of relapse and can reduce the long term dosage of Prednisone. Has anyone had experience with it, good or bad?

Functional doctor checking everything!
I posted here before about my suspected low B12 and my experience with my unsympathetic GP. I visited my consultant who was also not interested in listening to me. In fact he was taking blood while I was telling him I was sure I was low in B12 again and he didn't bother to even check it even though I

BO Update
I came to this site about 6 months ago. I was diagnosed with Bronchiolitis Obliterans in 2017. I follow at Temple Lung Institute. I am just returning to this group after the usual medical adventures. It has been a whirlwind of a year. I can't wait to see the back of 2019. I am exhausted. This is my time

Will this immunotherapy work for me? A common immune cell points the way.
For many lung cancer patients, the best treatment options involve checkpoint inhibitors. These immunotherapy drugs unleash a patient’s immune system against their disease and can yield dramatic results, even in advanced cancers. But checkpoint inhibitors come with a huge caveat: They only help a small

Learning from the bears.
Grizzly bears spend many months in hibernation, but their muscles do not suffer from the lack of movement. In the journal “Scientific Reports”, a team led by Michael Gotthardt reports on how they manage to do this. The grizzly bears’ strategy could help prevent muscle atrophy in humans as well. “Muscle

Caraway Oil - It DOES work!!
My darling Wife has always been in tune with seeds & stuff, especially since beating her cancer back in 2008, so I listened when she said "were you aware that caraway Seed Oil is good for releasing mucus?", to which I replied no of course, but then gave it a try for a week, just 3mg dropped onto the

After 4th Xofigo injection, bone marrow 'crashed'? - Cancer or side effect from Xofigo?? Next step??
My husband seemed to be responding to the monthly Xofigo injections until the 4th one on Dec 5th, which caused his blood numbers to crash. He ended up in the ER 2 weeks later, on Dec 20th, with hemoglobin around 6, so they gave him 3 red blood cell transfusions which brought him up to 8.4. (we were
