Targeted Therapy for ‘Undruggable’ Lung Cancer Stems from Decades of UCSF Research
Over the past two decades, targeted cancer therapies have changed the prognosis for thousands of patients. By targeting the specific genetic mutation behind a patient’s cancer, these therapies have enabled increasing numbers of patients to experience fewer toxic side effects and, often, live free of

Moffitt Researchers Develop Non-invasive Approach to Measure Biomarker Levels, Predict Outcomes in Lung Cancer Patients
Tests that analyze biomarkers are used during cancer management to guide treatment and provide information about patient prognosis. These tests are often performed on tissue biopsy samples that require invasive procedures and can lead to significant side effects. In a new article published in the Journal

Ground-breaking trial pilots new tests to detect lung cancer earlier. I posted about being invited for this a couple of weeks ago.
The first participants have taken part in a new research trial that aims to save lives by detecting lung cancer at an earlier stage when it is more treatable. People attending the NHS Targeted Lung Health Checks in Southampton are being invited to take part in the iDx Lung trial, which will offer new

Tocilizumab treatment extension, and latest PET-CT scan results
Three weeks ago, I discovered (via this wonderful group) that the NHS had decided to extend Tocilizumab injections until March 2022 (and indeed, my suppliers, Lloyds’ Homecare, arranged a delivery whilst I was away visiting my mum). 2 days later, my Consultant emailed me to say that she

Hi everyone, just found this site through the NHS app. Had cancer twice, had chemo plus stem cell transplant. I've been left with knee problems due to Lymphoma and have to use a stroller and wheelchair. The treatment I've had has led to a deep depression and anxiety as I no longer have my independence

Nanoparticle therapy shows promise at preventing fatal newborn lung disease
The disease is so rare and complex that its acronym is hard to pronounce. But for infants unlucky enough to be born with this lung disease, the outcome is usually fatal. The disease is called alveolar capillary dysplasia with misalignment of the pulmonary veins (ACDMPV). Research indicates the disease

Calling UK tocilizumab or epipen users: How do you dispose of your self-injector? Who arranges it?
Someone on the Vasculitis forum is encountering difficulty - is expected to attend the hospital to be handed her self-injection medication because they claim there isn't a protocol for disposing of the needle.

Small cell lung cancer
Hi everyone, My dad was diagnosed with 3b SCLC in December, with a small tumour in the lung and 1 lymph node involvement. No mets. He has responded fabulously well to Chemo and radio. Having had his first scan following treatment, his tumour can no longer be seen and his node is now normal size. Please

Lobectomy or not for mild/moderate COPD sufferer
Hi all, I'm actually asking this for my uncle as I don't know if he will ask and I feel we need help and support. He has lung cancer - discovered whilst investigating for potential prostate-cancer secondary tumours. A primary lung tumour was removed but the surgeon has said that gold standard treatment

Targeted therapy pralsetinib safely effectively treats lung and thyroid cancers with RET alterations
