And the beat goes on.........
I'm not cured of
nicotine
addiction
otherwise I wouldn't be sat here sucking a lozenge but the habit of smoking has definitely gone. For anyone starting out on the path of trying to kick the habit I think my advice would be don't expect the impossible.

Interesting Treatments
I have been on this forum for a couple of months, and learned quickly that this is based in the UK. I'm over here in the States and can't help but notice all of the different treatments that people post about! I was diagnosed at the age of 7 back in 1980, but have had symptoms since birth. I have

Drs. Hasan & Yusuf Yazici @ colchicine (Colcrys)
A few months ago, rheumatologists Dr. Hasan Yazici (in Turkey, considered the world's expert in Behcet's) and his son Dr. Yusuf Yazici (runs the Behcet's Disease Clinic in New York City) taped an interview between themselves discussing Behcet's Disease and its current treatment. The YouTube tape

It is only my second day without cigarettes and I'm struggling. I have smoked for 60years and was diagnosed with copd 2years ago.
The question I want to ask is:- Has anyone else had problems with nicotine patches? They irritate my skin so much that it itches very badly. I want to try to persevere this time as I've tried to give up smoking before and I know the patches take away the craving but sometimes find the itching unbearable

Nicotine Addiction ! Interesting article on why it is hard to stop AND why its worth it .
Nicotine tricks your brain by stimulating the reward pathways with a shot of dopamine, the hormone that tells us that things like food and sex are pleasurable. It also increases activity in the cholinergic pathways of the brain. These pathways are concentrated in the brain stem and are believed to be

e cigarettes are they the future for smokers
At first it was patches ,gum and lozenges for those that attempted escape from their
nicotine
addiction
, it is now becoming e cigarettes that are taking this desperate market being persuaded that it is not necessary for them to quit as there are no dangers with this product.

Other treatments for Behcet's
I don't see many people here mention that they've been on Trental (pentoxifylline) for Behcet's ulcerations, arthritis, and fatigue. It's inexpensive and has mild anti-TNFa properties like the biologics (Enbrel, Remicade, Humira, etc.), with fewer side effects and little risk. Low-dose nicotine patches

Are you beating tobacco?
Lots of people on here are fighting against
nicotine
addiction
and some have shared their journey. I just wondered how you are all doing? If you are doing well we can congratulate you (again). If you have faltered we can encourage and support you.

As a 60 year old grandmother, and a smoker of 45 years'

, I reckon it was a pretty daft thing to do. However, I've stuck religiously to the schedule, and completed W9R1 last night.

A question for those using nicotine patches
Hullo! When it comes to the time where you should drop down to the smaller patches does it feel any different? Do you feel like the smaller amount of nicotine makes you crave cigs more, or send you into moods? I will be on my 8th week next week and I am really starting to get panicky about it :( xx

What is NRT?
NRT stands for Nicotine Replacement Therapy. When used properly, NRT really does help people stop smoking. Currently there are nicotine patches, gum, tablets, lozenges, inhalator, mouth spray and nasal spray. By using NRT, you are only getting the nicotine from the product, not the other
