My Quit September 2013
My Quit September 2013 My name is Ian. I have been smoking since I was around 17 years old. I’m now 39 which makes it around 22 years I’ve smoked. I have smoked many things in those 22 years, but it was mainly tobacco, around 20-30 roll-ups per day. I’ve had always enjoyed smoking. I actually liked

AVOIDING ALCHOHOL AND SMOKING TIPS
We're all a little different in how we move through the process of kicking
nicotine
addiction
, so relax any preconceived notions you might have about how long recovery should take. Instead, focus on your own situation.

3 JUMBO JETS :-
And so it goes -- the vicious cycle of

addiction
. One cigarette is never enough, a fact that every smoker knows all too well. In order to quit smoking successfully for the long term, it helps to understand the nature of

and what it takes to break free of it.

More stop smoking hints. :)
Between the physical
addiction
to
nicotine
and the mental associations that tie what seems like all of our activities to cigarettes, it can feel as though we're chained to the habit with links of steel.

And the beat goes on.........
I'm not cured of
nicotine
addiction
otherwise I wouldn't be sat here sucking a lozenge but the habit of smoking has definitely gone. For anyone starting out on the path of trying to kick the habit I think my advice would be don't expect the impossible.

Interesting Treatments
I have been on this forum for a couple of months, and learned quickly that this is based in the UK. I'm over here in the States and can't help but notice all of the different treatments that people post about! I was diagnosed at the age of 7 back in 1980, but have had symptoms since birth. I have

It is only my second day without cigarettes and I'm struggling. I have smoked for 60years and was diagnosed with copd 2years ago.
The question I want to ask is:- Has anyone else had problems with nicotine patches? They irritate my skin so much that it itches very badly. I want to try to persevere this time as I've tried to give up smoking before and I know the patches take away the craving but sometimes find the itching unbearable

Nicotine Addiction ! Interesting article on why it is hard to stop AND why its worth it .
Nicotine tricks your brain by stimulating the reward pathways with a shot of dopamine, the hormone that tells us that things like food and sex are pleasurable. It also increases activity in the cholinergic pathways of the brain. These pathways are concentrated in the brain stem and are believed to be

e cigarettes are they the future for smokers
At first it was patches ,gum and lozenges for those that attempted escape from their
nicotine
addiction
, it is now becoming e cigarettes that are taking this desperate market being persuaded that it is not necessary for them to quit as there are no dangers with this product.
