I have never heard of this. I have heard people say that when they quit smoking their RLS got worse, and of course, they always tell us not to smoke. But, it kind of makes sense. Do you have a link that we can look at about the study? Very interesting!

What a coincidence, on Monday I am due to start slow release Pramipexole for the first time having been on the short acting Pramipexole for a long time and i am also due to start nicotine patch to help me stop smoking. I only started smoking because i thought it would help me cope with severe restlessness when RLS was bad now i am dependant on it [ of course it doesnt help its all psychological ] So i was going to ask my GP not to start nicotine patch at the same time as i thought that nicotine being a stimulant would make things worse I havent heard anything about this either so it would be good to find out more.

Of course the Nurse i am going to see for counseling while trying to give up will think i am just trying to put off giving up. But i think i shoudnt start the two things together because i wont know if Slow acting Pramipexole is working while taking something else new.

There was a small article in one of the newspapers about a week ago saying that a research project had found that Nicotine Patches helped alleviate symptoms of Parkinsons. They apparently increase Dopamine levels, so maybe will also help RLS.

I use nicotine patches to relieve serve RLS. Honestly this absolutely works for me. It has totally revolutionized social events, sleeps, travelling.

As soon as I run out my RLS return with vengeance!

I'm also trying to quit smoking and considering nicotine patches. I'd be very interested to hear if they help RLS. Some nights are so restless that I feel like crying and cutting my legs off! .....just saying......
