On occasions, I have been prescribed neomycin andpolymycin B sulfates and dexomethasone drops and ketorolac tromethamine drops. Both interact with tacrolimus. Are there any other options in your experiences with eye infections?

Many laxatives, ionophore antibiotics, drugs like rifamixin and neomycin have been targeted against this very principle.

I add I am allergic to neomycin and that is in the flu shot but it never bothered me before until now. Chest CT scan showed no disease. I await a slot for pulmonary rehab but it’s backed up. I am 80 and a retired nurse-anesthetist. Trying what I can do at home to improve my condition.

I gather from my consultant that the next step ,is 2 antibiotics together , Rifaximin & Neomycin , as I have Methane Sibo , but I’m not due to see him until the end of January , so I haven’t been given them yet . I’m following the Low FODMAP diet which is recommended for Sibo with a few tweaks.

My GI started me on Rifaximin and Neomycin last night. She did a liver function panel test before I started on the antibiotics and the AST was 52 and the ALT was 73. She is doing an ultrasound because of the elevated liver enzymes and I am terrified that it could be something catastrophic.

I’ve not been able to habituate just masking it and lost 8kg from the stress of it😭😩 I just found out Optomize has neomycin which ototoxic to ears and wish I never taken it !

There are some alternatives to try (neomycin, augmentin, ciprofloxacin, metronidazole , norfloxacin, etc.) and I am curious which one you have had and if it had lasting effects, did it really improve your symptoms.

I have read that one of its ingredients, neomycin can cause it (although I'm told that it's only if you have a compromised eardrum which I'm told I dont).

At that point back then my immunologist and my urologist advised me to use almost the same oint or cream Pimafukort (it has natamycin, hydrocortisone, neomycin). It helped only when I used it. So I applied it from time to time sometimes forgetting about the issue.

I know it is liver disease because I have had fluid drained from my abdomen, I take furosemide, spirolactone, and Neomycin to prevent further fluid build up. My blood work after 6 mos has returned to normal but I still tire, get lethargic, dizzy. Am I on track to better because I just don't know.

We had a call this morning with our GP and she talked through the concerns and will be contacting the liver team to investigate other medications that could be prescribed, Neomycin or Rifaximin. Thank you so much for your help.
