Second opinion update
Went for a second opinion last Friday, and even though I appear to have responded well to my first 3 months of treatment, it was an eye opener. Because I believe the quality of care we receive is to a significant degree related to our willingness to ask informed questions, to engage our oncologists

Genetic testing
Just curious how many people have had g-nome testing done. I feel I should have done this from the beginning to figure out what will work best. At this point it seems the chemo, casodex, Zytiga that have done nothing was a big waist of time and money. I am now on a targeted theropy called lymparza that

Zytiga, Prednisone, Lupron
My Oncologist is now prescribing daily 1000 mg of Zytiga, 5 mg Prednisone along with my every 3rd month of Lupron. Was on daily 50 mg Casodex after 6 infusions of chemo. Had my 3rd Lupron injection today. My past posts pretty much tell my beginnings. Can anyone tell me what I am in for?

Update on husband's condition - hopeful?
First off, a huge 'Thank-you' to all who replied to my posting a few days ago. We met with a nurse practitioner and the regular MO on Monday to discuss 'what's next' for Mike. It's clear that something else needs to be done -- the Lupron and Casodex are no longer keeping his PSA at a reasonable level

Newbie writing for hubby - more bad news.
I'm writing on behalf of my husband, Mike, who was diagnosed four years ago. His initial PSA was 13.5 with biopsy revealing an aggressive Gleason 9 cancer. According to his urologist, he was (approximately) stage 2A. He had a relatively successful run with Lupron for nearly three years ( which became

Newbie with questions
So glad I found this site - seems like the best source of info and ideas I have seen. So it’s time to stop lurking and start participating. I am 67, still work, was diagnosed in Nov. 2017. Gleason 4+4, metasteses to local lymph nodes, pelvis, hip and one rib. Large tumor on the prostate itself.

17 years of various treatments
Hi Y'all, Regarding my husband, I have dragged him through 17 years of various treatments--all failed. However, he is still alive and kicking after all these years and we are grateful for that. He has lived a mostly normal, unaffected life through it all. He had a laparoscopic prostatectomy done

Switching from Avonex to Plegridy
I'm considering switching from Avonex to Plegridy. The Avonex I inject once a week and for the two days following the injection I'm dealing with flu-like symptoms, extreme fatigue, and increased pain...the side effects of the Avonex. I've been on it for almost 4 years and the side effects had gotten

Advice Needed Urgently
Gentlemen, I can't tell you how much your encouragement and advice have meant to me. This site has truly helped me get through the struggles after my initial diagnosis and now I need your help again. I had my RP on 1/26 and now I need to make a treatment choice. As you all know, this is not like picking
