Why is Testosterone Increasing?

On Zytiga, Presdinsone, and Lupron today; October 2017 just Lupron PSA 29.7 Testosterone 27; January, 2018 , after adding Zytiga in November, 2017, PSA 7.1, but Testoserone inched up from 27 to 49. PSA going down, but testosterone going up.

Testosterone increased on 3 Tests, can,t be lab error. My MO said don,t be concerned, for the psa is decreasing; however, I am concerned. Casodex in the past turned to feed the PCa cells, that is why it was discontued.

I don't want to take Xtandi too soon. The blood draw was after I had been on Zytiga for 2 months.

I am not comfortable using advodart. I know the second paper said there was a design fault in the first paper about the increase in cancer for a certain subgroup. I am not convinced.

Hi Rich,

Myers had a vlog post regarding the intervention studies. Long-term follow-up showed no excess mortality in the intervention arms. Seems that the increase in higher Gleasons was due to detection bias, explained by the prostates being smaller on the repeat biopsy. The actual reason is unimportant since mortality was unaffected.

Thank you, your explanation is logical. I will have to think about it.

I take two capsules each of Saw Palmetto, Stinging Nettle and Pygeum nightly along with Flomax. Between that and the Lupron, my DHT is kept very low and hair has regrown on my bald spot. For me, it's a better option than adding yet another prescription drug. I take Zyflamend twice daily as well.

My lab only gives me a score of less then 50 for DHT, which does not meet my needs. I am going to another lab and check my testosterone, free testosterone, and DHT, not psa, for i don,t want to change labs for that test. If DHT is below 10,there will be no action by me; however, if is more then 10, I believe I will take Advodart.

Do you take Zyflamend?

I take 2 each morning. But I use a lot of other stuff that might do something similar.

I use the regular "Whole Body" version - not the "Nighttime" or "Prostate".

I was using Zyflamend, but I stopped, for I feared it might interfere with Lupron or ZYtiga. What are your thoughts about my concerns?

Rich,

My wife's oncologist prefers that she use no supplements, since there are no clinical trials involving the drug he has prescribed. And, for the same reason, perhaps she should stay away from all foods too?

I have no worries about Zyflamend, but maybe your caution has contributed to you being in your 20th survival year?

When introducing something new, one should monitor PSA, etc. The supplement can easily be stopped.

I am now taking Zyflamend, 2 capsules a day. There was a clinical trial with both casodez and Zyflamend the principal investigator was A.E. Katz MD
