Hiya, went to Sheffield northern general mon 22nd April, told by consultant that I need triple if not quadruple bypass surgery, considered urgent but 3-4month waiting list, my sisters have rang different places to find that some do keyhole or through a vein in the wrist operations, what’s your opinion

High BP, abdominal pain and sickness and UTI
I initially had bouts of anaemia and tiredness throughout the early 2000s and was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism around 2010. I was told that my excess weight would drop off me after being prescribed Levothyroxine. That didn't happen but I did get side effects and symptoms of an underactive thyroid

All my life, I've been outdoors and active. Fifty of those 77 years has been working as an outdoor instructor/mountain guide, sometimes at altitude in the European Alps. Twelve years ago I had ablation surgery for Atrial Fibrillation. It worked okay until recently. Cardio inspections recently found

an immobile mess
Firstly let me apologise the the lengthy post my mood is rock bottom right now and I need a safe space to air everything! I should also note I'm in the UK so a lot of the medical services are very different than what I would get quite easily in the US . I have suffered with bouts of lower back and hip

Major surgery and a Vasovagal event
I’ve been taking 5mg pred for a while. Reduced to 4.5 and after a few weeks began to feel unwell. I told my doctor who said go back on to 5mg. I then went into hospital last week. I had gluteal reconstructive surgery. The anaesthetist suggested I should increase my pred. So I did the sick day rule and

Surgery Today!
I’m having spinal surgery today in my neck. So glad it’s finally happening but rather nervous too. I have cervical stenosis and myelopathy so I’m hoping this operation will stop the progression of spinal cord damage 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻. Has anyone else had this happen. Not sure if it’s RA related or not.

Small hernia
I have Stage 3 low grade ovarian cancer and had debulking surgery 18 months ago. I got over the surgery very quickly and have been very lucky with no recurrence so far. Yesterday I saw my Oncologist who said she had found a small hernia but I should carry on as normal but avoid heavy lifting. I’m

cataract surgery and prednisolone dose
This morning I had my eyes tested. This time last year I was told I had the beginnings of a cataract in my left eye, due to prednisolone. Today I was told that, thanks to prednisolone, the cataract is now ready for surgery. I said I didn't want it yet, because I am trying to get my prednisolone dose

Adenomyosis or Endo back??
Hi everyone, I had a laparoscopy in 2018 and had mild endometriosis tissue removed from my pelvis, and two cysts removed (one being an endometrioma). I have started having pain again the last couple of years and have been back to the doctors a few times as I felt I had an ovarian cyst again. However

I've had chemo/debulking surgery/ chemo, and have just come to the end of the post surgery chemo. I've been told all along that I will continue with Bevacizumab as a maintenance treatment (I've had 3 rounds of it alongside chemo, 2 before the surgery and 1 after). I caught COVID towards the end of

Bronchitis
I have been coughing on and off for about a month, a few days ago I started feeling really ill. I phoned the surgery and was given an appointment with a nurse practitioner who confirmed it was bronchitis and not a chest infection and gave a prescription for a salbutamol inhaler. Should I be concerned

Prostatic Artery Embolization
I’m 67 year old and have been suffering with BPH for years. Don’t want to do TURP or lasers. I’m interested in doing PAE. Has anyone had this procedure done. Does it work. I had a cystoscope and the urologist found a medial lobe at the neck of the bladder. Would PAE work if the blockage is located there

I’ve always had problems with my periods since being a teenager. I first went to the doctors around 18 and was dismissed. I’m now 36 and finally got a diagnosis of adenomyosis (via MRI scan) and endometriosis. I’ve had the surgery to do excision and I’ve bled non stop since. Yesterday I thought I

happy Saturday!
I brought home my dog domino following acl surgery and am overwhelmed about his rehab routine. Massage, ice, meds, trips to vet daily for laser therapy, etc. for at least 8 weeks. Has anyone else been through this and have any coping skills to suggest?
