Free-PSA Ratio after Biochemical Recurrence
New study below [1]. Some might recall the use of the free-PSA ratio to cut down on unnecessary biopsies. "The risk of cancer increases if the free to total ratio is less than 25%" [2]. Does the ratio have prognostic value after biochemical recurrence? Apparently it may. "Posttreatment FPSAR>=0.10

I am also BRCA2 positive. My cancer is ER+ HER2- . I’ve had a double mastectomy and a complete hysterectomy, including

More surgery for an ovary that isn’t there
Over a year and a half since my hysterectomy and I’ve just been given a consent form for an oopherctomy with tube removal or cystectomy. Only I’m not supposed to have any ovaries or tubes :( there’s a cyst growing from somewhere and ever though I’ve had all the scans they still can’t tell where. Really

Cystectomy
Hi all, I’m having a cystectomy in a couple of weeks time to remove endometriomas from both ovaries. Was just wondering if anyone knew the recovery time for this operation? I’m still working from home at the moment so assume I could be working again after a couple of days? Thanks, Sarah

My cancer has come back in my chest bone!
Hi, it’s 8 years since I has HER2 grade 3 breast cancer and chemo and a mastectomy on my left side and on a Tuesday my breast consultant told me I have secondary breast cancer in my breast bone. It hasn’t spread anywhere else yet and I am due to have radiotherapy but my bone consultant is on holiday

First phone visit with academic hospital on my biochemical recurrence post robotic radical prostatectomy (University of Wisconsin - Madison)
Met with Dr. David Jarrard from UW Madison today over the phone. He is recommending the Axumin scan and I will most likely proceed with that as my next step. UW Madison has a similar perspective to my local urologist (Dr. Robert Vlach at the Wisconsin Institute of Urology) of having the scan, and then

I’m looking for some advice, for those of you that have had a mastectomy & reconstruction did you get good results? I may be heading down this path & wanted an idea of pros & cons following surgery?

Just finished first meeting with radiation oncologist. What he proposed as next steps
Given my PSA of ".38" 22 months following robotic radical prostatectomy and with a "low risk" Decipher RP score, I had my first meeting today with a local radiation oncologist (Dr. Michcael Ray - ThedaCare Cancer Center Appleton Wisconsin). I have my first call with a urologist from an academic hospital

Diagnosis of Hughes no longer relevant
Hello everyone on this APS support group. A few months ago it was suggested to me that my clotting/bleeding problems, could be explained by Hughes syndrome/APS. I dutifully proceeded to research this topic and thus became absolutely convinced that my problems were caused by this drug. I obediently

PSMA Scan Availability
I had a radical prostatectomy in July 2015. My PSA has been rising since that time and my oncologist recommended I wait until it reached .5 and get a PSMA scan. This was after I had started hormone therapy to prepare for salvage radiation, but the side effects were unbearable. My PSA is now .41 and

Blood results
Hi everyone, So a few weeks ago I posted my latest TSH, T3 and T4 results and advised I’m a poor converter and advised to take T3 and test vitamins. Luckily my doctor agreed to test Folate, B12, D and Ferritin. They came back all satisfactory according to their ranges. These are the results and would

In praise of Ibrance and Letrozole
My initial right-breast cancer appeared (grew very quickly to the size of a grapefruit) in 1992. I had 6 courses of chemo, very extensive mastectomy, 34 radiation, then 6 more chemo. I was clear of what all doctors said would be terminal. Had lots of physical therapy and crying. 24 years later, in 2016

Meeting with a local radiation oncologist for the first time this Thursday. Quick recap - Robotic radical prostatectomy in Oct 2018. PSA has risen to .38 effective a couple of weeks ago. Decipher RP score was .37. Here are the questions I plan to ask them (they are not an academic clinic): 1. Do

Impact of Vasectomy on the Development and Progression of PCa: Preclinical Evidence
New study below [1]. A post on the possible influence of vasectomy on PCa development might seem like navel gazing at this point, but the subject continues to interest me. When the first "bad news" about vasectomy was published long ago, the reaction was unexpected. Rather than warn men about to be

Treatment for invasive lobular breast cancer
I am on femara 2.5mg daily for 5 years as of now. No chemotherapy given as oncotype dx score was 9. Right mastectomy done. No radiation given as no lymph nodes were involved and margins after surgery were clear of tumour infiltration. Do I need any other treatment? What about immunotherapy n CDK4/6
