Tried the classic beta-blockers and the all make me ill. A week ago I went to A&E with an HR of 166 bpm, up from 120bpm, wihilst taking Metoprolol

Propafenone (Rythmol) or Flecainide (Tambocor)
I started taking propafenone this past Tuesday (4 days ago) and it makes me very lightheaded and increases my breathing difficulty, I have copd, using Metoprolol and an inhaler. It also drains my energy. The EP nurse said I could stop the Propafenone and after a few days they would start me on Flecainide

Post ablation
Day 3 after ablation. Just feeling a bit more myself today. The consultant was very pleased with the procedure which took 6 hours under general anaesthetic. She has dealt with both the flutter and the fibrillation. I have been in no pain at all apart from a migraine type headache which has now subsided

Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation on Eliquis
Background: Some where around 20 years ago I was told that I had benign PVC's and was given Metoprolol 25mg twice a day. Eight years ago I had a coronary angiogram done and everything looked good and was told I had good heart function. Recently I started having lightheartedness, low energy and something

Video Assisted Thoracotomy - Maze - 2 weeks on
Well, 2 weeks since my minimally invasive maze. The chest wounds are healing well but there is still a bit of tightness in the chest. Today I have had a few premature beats but general rhythm is fine. I know it is early days in terms of the scarring that needs to occur for full effect but will contact

Considering Ablation
Hi, this is my first post here. I had my first A-fib back in 2002, i was put on 25mg Metoprolol, and saw my Cardiologist annually up until 2010. Initially the Dr. suggested Ablation as an option but to first try the meds. I changed my lifestyle/diet and was able to control the episodes to where i'd get

EP consultation and 4 months post ablation report.
Good morning everyone. Just posting this for information to hopefully add to the 'knowledge' base. Saw my excellent EP for first time since my ablation on 16 July. Not unexpectedly he was not able to confirm success at this point given that I'd had 4 episodes of AF during the blanking period. which

Does losing weight help if you're normal weight?
I've had permanent afib for 10 years now, rate controlled with metoprolol and diltiazem. You always read that afib incidence and severity can be reduced if obese people with afib would lose 10% of their body weight. But would it be helpful for a normal weight person to lose weight, in order to improve

No more AF
Hi I am now almost 4 months post my 5th catheter ablation in 9 months for Atrial Fib and Flutter. I have had no episodes of either since the 5th ablation. I am now off warfarin but still on metoprolol - 47.5 per day. My cardiologist says I should now be off Metoprolol because of its side effects. I have

Metoprolol Withdrawal
last week with the support of my Dr I came off metoprolol over three days. 24 hours after my last half pill my resting heart rate was up from my normal 60/65 to 90/100 but after a week was back to almost normal. The first night was pretty bad with almost no sleep but for the rest of the week I just

My Triglycerides and blood urea are high. What should I do?
My cholesterol is 130 but the triglycerides are 231. Blood urea is 43. My diabetes is under control with HbA1c of 6.0. I am taking a low carbohydrate diet, Rasuvastatin 5mg, Metoprolol 12.5mg and ramipril 5mg since a number of years. What should I do ?

less is more
I just spent a few years trying to get the dosage right and proper drugs for my AF on top of HOCUM. By last summer I had lost body hair, libido, energy, stamina, muscle mass, and strength. Last fall I had had enough. I tapered off the Sotolol and cut down the Metoprolol. I still take the blood thinner

Bruising
Hi all, I am waiting for my latest blood test results but I am on 100g levothyroxine and metoprolol. I have developed bruising that looks like tiny blood spots under the skin on my legs. GP has done a full blood count and clotting today. Does anyone know if this could be linked to either the thyroid

Stopping AF attack with heart beat sound. Weird but worked. Worth trying!
Woke up around 1 a.m. with my heart fluttering around like a beautiful butterfly in spring ... or maybe a drunken moth banging around an old streetlight:) Wasn't a BAD attack but enough to keep me awake. Decided to have my morning metoprolol early at 3:00 instead of 7 and hoped for the best. Eventually

Being shocked out of AF?
I had an AF attack today - first one in 8 weeks which is a long stretch for me. After about 10 minutes I could feel it was going to balloon into a hospital trip so I took a metoprolol and tried to chill out at work (which was dead as a doornail with only me in the store). I have not really mentioned
