Crime, thyroid and amusement don't often go together. But I couldn't help laughing at this story today:
The Blotter: A burglar took what?
Fri, 10/15/2010 - 12:57pm — Chris Essig
If you are going to burglarize a motor vehicle (which I highly suggest you don't do) what would be the first thing you take?
Money? Cigarettes? How about thyroid medication?
On Tuesday, Oct. 12, one burglar chose the latter.
According to reports from the Galesburg Police Department, an employee with Steak N Shake, 1066 N. Henderson St., told authorities someone had entered her car while she was working and had taken not her money or cigarettes, but her thyroid medication, valued at approximately $40.
Other medications, including fluoxetine, hydrochlorothiazide, lorazepam and micardis, also were not tampered with.
At this time, police do not have any suspects. But maybe he or she had thyroid problems.

OK, so it's not in the UK, but hide your prescription medicines before leaving your car. And I hope the person got them replaced without too much of a problem.
