Immediate-Release Versus Controlled-Released Carbidopa-Levodopa
The question of immediate release versus controlled-release carbidopa levodopa is a frequent topic here, so it is high time to have a post specifically addressing this issue. Chart source: https://www.ingentaconnect.com/contentone/ben/ccp/2007/00000002/00000003/art00006?crawler=true With reference

Depressed lost alone all too real
Hi everyone Sorry to be on a dark pathway. But lately I've come to realise what I have got. I was diagnosed with CBD by my neurologist nearly a year ago. Lately I seem to be in a lot of pain. But then I think am I? I see and hear things that I know aren't there. Is it just the way that this horrible

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had problems or no problems with Madopar (Roche) products available in NZ. I am thinking of trying their range - sounds like fine wines doesn't!

I'm suffering badly with Pramipexole withdrawal despite help with Temgesic. Any advice please.
I'm sorry I've been off the forum lately but I'm really struggling with coming off Pramipexole. I have been reducing the prami by about a quarter of a 0.125/.088 a week and been taking Temgesic since early October. The Temgesic can no longer control the RL so I'm wondering what I can do next. Madopar contain Mannitol! Who knew?
Just looking at the leaflet with my new supply of Madopar, and see that the lowest strength version contains Mannitol. Who knew? Would be interesting to know why.

Reaching Out
For the last 4 years I have walked out 6kms 3-4 times per week with a large group of friends. This year I walked twice in about August due to bushfire smoke, a chest infection that wouldn't go away and Covid. I also attended an exercise class once per week up until 2 months ago. I have increased my

Does anyone take both Madopar and Sertraline ?
I take Zoloft for my Bipolar and have taken many other medications in the past. The sertraline actually works without most of the horrid side effects of other things. I've had RLS for a while but it's become extremely bad over the last 6 months and my insomnia is causing a range of problems for me. My

Meds and movement
Hi all. Funny thing happened to me this morning and I wondered if anybody else has experiences of movement (either it's presence or absence) affecting their meds? Two days ago I heard a neurologist on YT claiming that not only was an hour before food the best time to wait when taking meds, but that

How much CL is too much?
Hi all. I had a phone appointment with my nurse yesterday. I told her that I was having severe off times and needed a revised regime. She noted that I was on 8mg of Requip and proposed increasing this to 14mg (Fine by me, I never had the bad side effects that this drug can bring). Then she asks me

Apomorphine pump; does anyone have any experience?
Hi Everyone This is my first post, we live in the UK and my husband (age 69) was first diagnosed as probable akinetic rigid Parkinson late 2018. He was prescribed Madopar, then Pramipexole and finally Sinemet but none gave any significant improvement and he was then referred to a neurologist who thinks

Mucuna Dyskinesia Shocker!
Hi gang. Sorry for the long post but something has happened that has somewhat surprised me and I need both to share to provide others with information, offer - whilst not an apology - at least make an admission - and lastly ask for advice. Here goes: Dxed 5 years ago. Started on Azilect and then added

Help! Shaking is driving me 😜
I have had Parkinson’s for about 20 years. Originally was given Sinemet cr. After that didn’t work anymore I was given Sinemet IR. Even though it happened at times, recently about ten minutes after I take the Sinemet I shake uncontrollably for about forty five minutes. When I finally quit shaking, I

Temgesic - letter to the Consultant - raising the profile
If you take a look at my post 'Thought for the Day' you'll understand the context of this letter we sent to Mrs P's consultant. I'm urging suffers to write down their experiences and send it to their doctors. We sent this as an email together with the evidence for Temgesic success stories. I'm hoping

Should I be taking this.
Hi everyone I’ve had loads of advice from this site and I’m still seeking it. I’ll give you a quick synopsis of what I’ve been going through and where I am now. I have had RLS what seems like forever. I took Ropinirole for 10 years, went through augmentation, developed a gambling problem and managed

Madopar plus Mucuna
How best to combine Madopar with Mucuna? My husband has been using Mucuna (99% L-dopa) fairly successfully over the past 3 or so years, and only recently added Madopar. Our own consultant is ok with us using Mucuna, but doesn't really give much advice about how to best use it. So my question is? Should

Hi everyone, we're new and looking for help, advice and any nuggets of info to help us work through the possible challenges ahead..cheers!
Hopefully our profile blurb outlines who we are, but to flesh it out a tad... J was diagnosed approx' 5 yrs ago with Parkinson's, which was obviously a blow as she's always been very physically active and at 55yrs old it was a million miles from what we had thought might be ahead of us...but that's probably
