Just looking at the leaflet with my new supply of Madopar, and see that the lowest strength version contains Mannitol. Who knew? Would be interesting to know why.

Unlike tablets, they are taste free capsules. Anyway, why not in other doses?
Mannitol is a filler : it's used to fill up the capsules.
Since it's neutral - i.e. has absolutely no effect whatsoever (*)- it's used as such.
Mannitol is often used as a placebo to test new drugs in blind tests.
(*) unless it's given in very high, intravenous doses, in case of brain swelling
It’s too small an amount to do anything.
