Fibroscan 6.7 kpa / Biopsy Stage 4 Cirrhosis?!?
Hi everybody - so I am completely at a loss to understand how my Fibroscan could be completely normal (100 CAP/6.7 kpa, repeated 3x with the same results) when the biopsy reading from my hepatologist came back from the lab as being Stage 4 Cirrhosis. The doctor himself is also unsure what to make of

Getting help from Rheumatology Team?
My husband has RA and is on Tocilizumab. However he picked up hepatitis E while still on methotrexate, then was changed to biologics as the methotrexate wasn't sufficiently controlling the RA. Since then his ALT has gone up and he had a liver biopsy showing Non alcoholic fatty liver. They have cut the

Hard journey to waiting list
My first time writing here. Day 71 of my daughter being on the liver transplant list. A number of years ago my daughter was diagnosed with NAFLD and was very overweight. 2 years ago aged 32 she started to have a fear of chocking on food so really struggled to eat - continued to ask for help but roll

Hi. My husband has decompensated cirrhosis. He is 69. He has been visiting St. James’s hospital in Leeds for quite some time for a transplant assessment. He has been trying unsuccessfully to get fit enough to be listed for a transplant. He suffers from HE regularly and really struggles to take lactulose

AST/ALT ratio
Hi folks, I read online that an AST/ALT ratio greater than 1.2 can mean advanced liver disease. On August 9 I had a liver enzyme blood test done and all the results were well within normal; however, when I used an AST/ALT calculator tool online, it said I had a ratio score of 1.4 and that this could

Liver rebirth.
Have had a fatty liver for some years, doctors told me to lay off to allow the liver to recover. I have done dry January every year since 2013, but carried on drinking during the week in between. Recent blood tests (2024) showed high Gamma GT's (190iUL) and ALT's (81iUL) and a subsequent Fibroscan showed

My dad is 71 and has decompensated liver from Cirrhosis. He had had a transplant assessment and has been told he isn't currently physically strong enough. They will see him again in a few weeks.I'm finding the decisions he is making regarding his care and health difficult. Are there any helplines I can

Hyaluronic acid test anyone?
Hi there all, Quick question - I've just discovered - been delving into my husband's medical notes and letters that he had a hyaluronic serum test just back in June. This was because the liver doctor was bemused at his fibroscan result which she says showed no cirrhosis. Now, I know for a fact that

Jaundice eyes
My partner has cirrhosis fibroscan 75kpa and capscore 310. Which I realise are on the high end of things. He has varices and is on betablockers. He has no ascites but his legs are swelled and itchy. His eyes are becoming more and more yellow almost orange in the corners. I don't know weather that

Post Kasai_ biliary atresia
My son is 6 months last week, he had biliary atresia and they did the kasai at 5 weeks, the jaundice is still there, how long does it take to clear? Also he was diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the liver. We start solids this week. The stool has changed to yellow now but sometimes it's oily. We were recommended

Hello, everyone. I had my Ultrasound last week, My CBD diameter is prominent measuring 12.1 cm. Is this finding worrying? Also my weight is 50 kilos taking 250mg of Urso 3 times a day equivalent to 750 mg. for so many years, my specialist reduced my Urso to 500mg a day, told me my liver is ok

Post Liver Transplant - MASLD (Fatty Liver Disease)
When I had my liver transplant back in 2016. I secretly promised my donor that I would look after this gift of life, and never knowingly cause it any damage. So here I am, almost eight years later, and I've now been diagnosed with having MASLD (Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease
