Can ultrasound detect cirrhosis?
hi all I’ve had a clear ultrasound but I have high high serum ferritin. GP referring me for a fibroscan and I’m really worried I might have cirrhosis. Anyone know how good ultrasound is at detecting cirrhosis??? Ive been drinking at least a bottle of wine daily for about 6 years with very few days off

End of Life Memories
Thinking back to a year ago I was busy trying to turn an unused room filled with a lifetime of boxes into a habitable, useable bedroom for the arrival of a hospital bed before the hospital would allow mum to come home.

Update on transplant
So we had the follow up appointment this week with the transplant team. My husband has been on Rifaxomin since our last appointment 6 weeks ago, which he has responded really well to - thus confirms the diagnosis of mild HE. Happily, he hasnt had typical symtoms, just incredible fatigue, sleepiness and

ELF Test (Enhanced Liver Fibrosis)
Has anyone here had this test? I saw a different hepatologist and he ordered this lab. From what I understand, it measures 3 molecules in the liver matrix metabolism and gives a score reflecting the severity of fibrosis. They say it is so accurate it is beginning to replace liver biopsies.

ICU stay
I was admitted to hospital at the end of April after months of nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea and fatigue. I remember the ambulance but not entering the hospital. I was placed in an induced coma and ventilated for five days due to extensive brain swelling, respiratory distress, suspected abdominal sepsis

I got told in May that I would need a Liver Transplant in y2rs time after being hospitalised and nearly dying from a Gastrointestinal bleed. I am not a drinker and have had an unexplained liver condition for 35yrs. However I had a Fibroscan and it came back normal. Also my blood results are on

Bizarre fibro scan reading
So after decades of alcohol abuse I had a CT scan of my liver 2 years ago. The report said " The parenchyma demonstrates increased echogenicity and coarse echotexture. Appearances are suggestive of early cirrhotic changes.." and also received a text message from the doctor saying "your liver scan confirms

"Very abnormal LFT" + urgent fast track ultra-sound referral?
Morning all, I was wondering if anyone could offer some insight (or reassurance!) into some recent results I've had. My LFT were flagged as high back in June, Dr thought it could be due to really low vitamin D levels but after a 12 week high dose course of that (which is now fine) my liver function

FINALLY
I am so thankful to those of you who wrote about the blanking period. I had never heard of that although I did realize that they would not consider my procedure of failure until three months and it could take 6 to 12 months to really have things kick in right. FINALLY I almost feel like me again. Of

Recent deterioration
I have an autoimmune liver disease called Nodular Regenerative Hyperplasia. This is caused by a primary immune condition called Common Variable Immune Deficiency. I have deteriorated slowly over 10 years and the phrase “ advanced liver disease” was used for the first time in September. A few weeks
