Optimizing the treatment of hypothyroidism
Guidelines indicate that a trial with LT4 and
liothyronine
(LT3) could be attempted once other conditions have been addressed or excluded. Even so, currently, treatment of hypothyroidism can still be suboptimal. Open Access here: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41574-024-00989-7.epdf?

Thyroid medication changes when starting HRT for perimenopause
I have been self medicating with
liothyronine
and levothyroxine for the past two years or so. Today I started the estrogen patch for perimenopause symptoms, and will also start progesterone in a couple of days.

Buying from abroad
I am now wondering if anyone on here knows of a supplier where I can buy
Liothyronine
, as I live in fear that they will just stop them one day when I ask for a repeat prescription.

Anyone been prescribed T3 by endo in Leeds? I need to advise my son's partner. Please send a pm (chat) to me.
She is new to hypothyroidism and her fT4 and fT3 results indicate she is a poor converter, so I really need to ensure she is referred to an endocrinologist who is abreast of the current research on how essential T3 is to well-being, and that some patients need
Liothyronine
adding to their thyroid meds

Endo gave me private prescription
Thing is, I just wanted to check as on the prescription it says triiodothyronine rather than
liothyronine
. Is that the same thing? when I asked Roseway they said they stock Thybon brand (as I was after the cheapest) but don’t have triiodothyronine.

Thyroid Medication
I have been on L Thyroxine Henning and Thybon Henning
Liothyronine
. I have been on both of these for over 15 years now and can longer get them in my local pharmacies. I use this brand because they are lactose and gelatin feee and seem to suit me personally after trying different brands.

The use of thyroid hormone liothyronine in patients with heart failure - Another Pearce-linked Trial
Fascinating seeing these words in the context of a medical trial:
The use of thyroid hormone
in patients with heart failure
Liothyronine
(T3) is a safe tablet and has few side effects because it is a synthetic version of triiodothyronine, a naturally occurring hormone

Any tips on getting through an increase in levothyroxine and feeling a bit rubbish
I’m 3 weeks in to an increase to 100mcg daily and then in 4 weeks I’m to very slowly increase
liothyronine
from 10mcg to 20mcg (I’ll do this v gradually). I’m feeling really rubbish, exhausted, trouble sleeping, very sore joints, the usual symptoms.

Liothyronine private prescription, should I notify GP and how?
I am just awaiting delivery of my first
Liothyronine
by private prescription and am unsure of the protocol. I presume I should keep my GP in the loop but am unsure. Also, I have moved out of my GP's area but haven't told them and use my son's address in the area for correspondence.

DI02 Gene test
Primarily to present my findings to the endo in the hope I may get
Liothyronine
on the NHS. The result came back saying the TT genotype appears to have normal enzyme and I should manage effectively with T4 mono-therapy.
