I've received an email apologising for the delay and saying that my appeal has now been passed to The Assistant Registrar for review. See healthunlocked.com/thyroidu... .
In view of recent BBC news I have forwarded this comment as additional information: -
The case of Dr Inigo Blasco has just concluded bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c15... . Prof XXXXXX admits in his response to my Freedom of Information Request whatdotheyknow.com/request/... that all his patients had their liothyronine prescriptions decreased or cancelled - regardless of consequences. (Please note that his statement that 95% of patients were told of the intention was to deprescribe is not true, as evidenced in his training video where he jokes about patients believing they would receive a prescription.)
Prof XXXXXXX has bulk deprescribed and harmed his patients.

All kudos to you jimh111 for continuing with your battle to be treated well and fairly. It is staggering how much harm a blinkered viewpoint can cause in any field....how much worse when it involves the lives and well being of fellow human beings.
It's quite right that doctors who bulk diagnose should be brought to book. I feel the same approach should be taken with doctors who bulk dediagnose (new word), especially when they are overriding diagnoses from previous doctors against the patients' wishes and with no clinical examination.
Good on you and hope goes well. I have a complaint going , not thyroid, though involvement, but mis/undiagnosed.It is hard to deal with and many times I think ill throw in the flag but with the principal being my health and possibly health of others I continue. blinkered , boxed, neglect ,ommitance, false ,its all so harmful and life altering.
Hi do you mind me asking are you doing FOI on the NHS on individual doctor or area prescribing? I've obtained data in the last few years on prescribing trends. Perhaps I should ask for it again. Good luck with the complaint. Ps the national guidance was slightly edited a couple of weeks ago.
Have a look at the FOI link. The questions are to elicit the behaviour of the doctor and the hospital. His answers are inaccurate and this dishonesty forms part of my complaint to the GMC.
Wow, Jim. I salute your perseverance. This whole issue is shocking and I so admire you standing up for yourself like this. Thanks for the update. Really interested to see how they respond when they eventually do.
Thanks for the update Jim. More power to you for your heroic efforts. I truly hope Prof xxxxxx is brought down hard and that this disgusting treatment of patients is exposed. If all else fails, perhaps approach the BBC journalists who covered the Blasco case? Good luck with your continued efforts.
The original video was taken down by him for a legitimate reason (although he gives other resons in his response to my complaint). You can find my original post via my profile. I will pm you with a similar but not quite so bad video.
I made a complaint about a procedure [ colonoscopy] that went terribly wrong, I asked to be sedated , the injection missed my vein and I was fully aware what was happening, truly awful as the procedure needed to go further than just a part colonoscopy hence to say they wriggled out of it by saying everything was done correctly...no it wasn't I was there😡.
I also saw an endocrinologist in 2014 after some bloods came back abnormal, in her report she said I had some episodes thyroiditis 🤷♀️ and my TSH was under range with this possibly being subclinical HYPERTHYROIDISM ..please would you do regular thyroid bloods to check the patients thyroid hormones, my gp never did this request [ I never saw this report from the endocrinologist till 2020 when my son request my medical records] I subsequently went on over the years to suffer with what I later found out were hyper symptoms, I even got my son to check my symptoms on the nhs Web site and it said overactive thyroid.
I asked my gp on many occasions " could this be my thyroid "
"Absolutely not" was his answer, I went on to eventually getting diagnosed by a different gp who'd just joined the practice, lost my thyroid in 2019 due to it being so toxic [ no saving it] .
I again complained to my surgery infact confronting the gp who couldn't diagnose me from 2014 onwards, his attitude was so arrogant, he never answered my questions and then printed out a prescription for anti thyroid drugs stood up and ushered me out😡.
If I wasnt so ill I'd have sued his ares there and then , but I was so ill I actually had graves thyrotoxicosis, it's appalling how we are gasslit by these people who are supposed to help our health but infact hinder it, I'm told the statue of limitations for sueing a gp is within 5 years 🤷♀️ if that's the case I can no longer sue him for neglect.
If you've seen any of my posts you'll know I'm struggling with synthetic thyroid medication 5 years now😡 but have acquired some ndt through roseway clinic 26 days on them and no awful effects I get from synthetic thyroid hormone, but I'm now fighting to get the nhs to pescribe ndt, it's like climbing mount everest 4 times over🙄 keep getting the same old answer..." THE NHS ARE NOT LICENSED TO PESCRIBE NDT"
I'm registered disabled with a small amount of money to live off, my son paid for this private ndt prescription 😡
The nhs should feel utterly ashamed of the way the throw there rules around , do they not see the irony of not using the correct medication, it will just mean we will clog up the nhs further....because we are being left without the medication we need😡
Thanks. Sorry about all your problems, it's very difficult to pin down doctors, they all make mistakes but in some cases it is dishonesty which is unacceptable.
An elderly friend is showing increasing signs of dementia. I asked her daughter if they had tested her thyroid, and apparently her TSH was "slightly raised but nothing to worry about". I asked about the T3 and T4 tests but they were not done. Looking at her I can see all the signs of low thyroid levels, but no, the GP is trusted.... So frustrating. I will keep pushing.
When all the research shows how important the T3 is, why is it so ignored? Why the drive to keep people ill?
Keep going jimh111 . You will at times think you are not getting anywhere, but someone will notice and changes may be made. Sending more power to your elbow!
always, Always but ALWAYS take them on! Way too much cr*p going on - not simply overstretched and underfunded - ATTITUDES can be the source. Good on you jim!
Yes but it's not the one you saw there (we had a pm conversation a couple of months ago). They are both endocrinolgists and both work in training so they are fellow travellers.
