Never heard of any of these! Would like to know too! Is it something to test for PD?

Blessings,

Carol

Excuse me! Of course I know what DBS and Levadopa are. But what is a challenge test for or do? Sorry, still asleep I guess!

Blessings,

Carol

Sorry, Carol, I should have been clearer. See Soup reply.

I think this is the assessment they do to find out how well you respond to L-Dopa. You are taken off L-dopa and assessed and then given the drug back again and reassessed. Have a look on the Parkinson's UK website. They have a useful booklet on all forms of Operations as therapies for Parkinson's.

That is how I was diagnosed! Took 10 years for someone to try this method!!!!

Carol

Hi You stop taking all you drugs from 10 pm the day before and the following day they vidio you to see how bad you are with out your medication and then they give you your medication and vidio you again to see how you respond.I have just had DBS and was turned on last Friday .It is fantastic I can't believe how much I have improved .Are you in the uk?

I had DBS almost a year ago April 6th and like rathcline, I too have been amazed at how much control it has over my symptoms from PD. I turned it off last week just to remind myself that it's not a cure. Now I'm figuring out how to limit if not eliminate my meds. Tried dropping one med a week by slowly dropping a dose, but boosting the DBS to the set limit since my last programming session and the skipping doses or taking them only as needed, seems best for me. I've been able to drop from 600 Stalevlo to 300, 300 Amantadine to 100 Amantadine, 1.125mg Mirapex to 0.75 mg Mirapex. I'm amazed and feel better every day!

I did a test something like this when my doctor was testing to see if I would qualify for DBS surgery. I am currently taking 8 stavelo a day and quit taking it the night before and saw my dr at 9am the next day and was tested and video and then took meds and did the test and was video again. I am having dbs surgery on 3-27. can't wait

I had \it done before my DBS. The last levidioa pill is twelve hours before you "test:" then you go in and they film you doing tasks (pouring water in to a cup , walking, handeling small business cards. It is so they know how bad off you are and to compair after the DBS.. I had DBS done in 2010 it is still not right.Good luck to you.
