What do MAO-b Inhibitors do for us that no other type of Pd medication can do?
I am not a doctor, nor do I have any form of medical training. However! I do have a lot of experience on this subject! I was prescribed a single medication, back in 1992, when I was first diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. That was the only medication I took for ten years. I now no longer need to take

Is exercise really the answer?
I am the only Pd patient, that I know of, who has managed to reverse many of his/her movement symptoms. I am also the only patient, that I know of, who has not had to take any Pd medication anymore. For the past 11 years I have not needed to take any medication for my Pd. I had been taking Eldepryl for

Does anyone have any imput/comment on this? As everyone says, diagnosis doesn't change anything, but it helps to structure the future.
My husband was diagnosed with Agent Orange induced Parkinson's in 2009. In December 2013, the neuro said that she felt there might be some conmorbitant PSP (involuntary eyes closing/unable to open, legs involuntarily straightening out, stiff as a board). The sinemet, ropinerole, and entacapone still

protein/levodopa question
Many PDers find that protein interferes with levodopa absorption. Can any members comment on which proteins interfere most, and which interfere less? My mom has lost a good bit of weight and would really like to eat some protein during the day (she currently only eats it at night). Are there any recommendations

Anyone having problems with Madopar? Or more specifically Levodopa in particular?
My neurologist has taken me off Madopar because the Levodopa that it contains is causing me extreme problems with impulsive behaviour. The problem is now my tremor has started to get worse again in the last week since stopped the Madopar and I am due a review in 3 months once the Madopar has left my

Comtan / entacapone cost
Comtan (generic:entacapone) really works for me in extending my on-times for carbidopa-levadopa to the point where I am almost symptom free some days. However, I have been paying $300-$400 for it per month because my insurance, and I've been told, most insurance didn't cover it. Well, IT DOES NOW and

One doctor says take pramipexole 3 tablets, twice daily and the other doctor says he doesn't believe in it and take levodopa. Any thoughts?
I've been taking pramipexole for just less then two months and other then a few minor side effects I'm really not sure what's it's done for me. Anyone got on thoughts on these meds. Just wanted a second opinion.

It's my health, my body...why is it that my opinion does not count? I am angry, frustrated and feeling helpless!
I was diagnoised just over 10 years ago and fought taking any meds for some time, untl my ablility to function was greatly impaired, which in turn greatly affected my mental state. I am currently taking Ropinirole, (0.5MG, 1 tab-4x dly) Carb/Levo, (25-100MG, 1 tab-4x dly) Entacapone, a generic of Comtan

My experiment with 2 recommended devices resulted in no more blood pressure pills and no more PD-related fainting spells
I've been taking blood pressure pills for decades. I've probably tried a half-dozen or more brands as side effects would cause me to give up on one and try another. My latest version -- Avapro -- seemed to be working OK. But recently I started having sudden mid-day sinking spells that at times brought

A possible cure for Fibroymalgia, please read this.
I have heard a lot of different opinions on what Fibromyalgia is and on possible treatments for it. But I recently found a book that is incredibly useful. It's called " The Fibromyalgia cure" it's by DR David Dryland. It basically says that fibromyalgia is caused by your body being in a constant

BocowoA trial update - A Lull before a Storm
Having enjoyed the first few hours in feeling totally free of all Parkinson’s Disease symptoms (while being completely free of Levodopa medication for over 15 days) the recent heat wave brought with it an unaccounted for twist; and coinciding with a shortfall in the main ingredient of BocowoA, I decided

What causes the involuntary movements or dyskinesia, is it the pd or pd meds?
If it's the meds, which ones are most likely to cause these symptoms? I take 0.5mg of Ropinirole 4x dly., 100mg of Carb/Levo 4x dly., 100mg of Buprop 2x dly.
