My fresh experiment with raw mucuna
Today I experimented with different genre of seeds (velvet beans). I purchased it from herbs shop . It's very effective. Only three to four seeds have an effect equal to 100 mg levodopa tablet.Start taking effect within 15 minutes with a dose of 5 grams And seems that when I am "ON" with seeds, I feels

Drooling, swallowing, reflux
Some weeks ago my mum ( 84, PD + dementia) began drooling. "Ah, another PD box ticked," I thought. I had been expecting the symptom to appear at some point. Initially, it was not a great problem and I continued to provide her with her normal amounts of fluid/nutrition. However, over a few days the

levodopa side effect
hello, My mom has not been diagnosed officially yet. Her doctor said it might be psp mixing with ftd. Her cognitive deficits can easily be recognized. Levodopa treatment started with half dose (62,5 mg). I did not see much improvement. However, when ee switch to 125 mg, her mood is disrupted. Her voice

Piperine and L-dopa producing probiotic
I recently ran across a couple of things about gut bacteria that I thought were interesting. The first involves the use of piperine (an extract of black pepper) to keep l-dopa from being converted to dopamine by bacteria in the small intestine, leaving more to travel to the brain; https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com

L-Dopa side effects - psychosis
My mother has huge side effects from Madopar (LevoDopa), since almost a year she becomes psychotic when she takes it. In combination with the dyskinesia which she already has increasingly since a few years, this is a really horrible combination. She also has dementia since about a year, all occured after

Has anyone tried Camicinal as a co-therapy with levodopa
A trial was run for the administration of Camicinal as an adjunct therapy with L-dopa and following was the outcome: In total 19 patients received the inactive placebo and 37 received 50mg of the study medicine GSK 962040, also called Camicinal. Those patients who took Camicinal showed an improvement

Infusion therapy better than pills at reducing Parkinson’s symptoms
An international, multisite phase 3 trial published in the Lancet Neurology has found that continuous, 24-hour levodopa delivery through a subcutaneous infusion pump is safe and effective at reducing symptoms for longer periods of time. For the trial, 381 patients with Parkinson's disease in 16 countries

Levodopa only?
I was wondering if there are members of this forum who have been on large doses Levodopa - Madopar or Sinemet only - up to 1100 mg per 24h, for 5+ years.I would be grateful if you could comment on your present quality of life, and do you think that things could improve if other medications are added

Levodopa absorption
What makes absorption of the last (evening) Levodopa dose very poor regardless of the last meal taken before, or even on empty stomach?

I don’t care which supplement is working.
I feel awesome; the combo could be placebo. Today I took: - 2 scoops of Inulin and a Probiotic first thing in the morning. My whole body felt tingly for 45 minutes. (Tingly may be the wrong word, it wasn’t unpleasant, more like a glow.) - Hour later: 1 Neurogan’s Urolithin A 700mg, 1 Fatty15, 1-1/

Awakenings...
Has anyone ever watched the movie
"Awakenings".
Really Awesome that people in a comatose state where awaken after 30 yr only to develop dyskinesia from high dose levodopa. I had tears in my eyes when they were awakened. The movie never mentioned that after
only one summer

Arm swinging and levodopa
I was just wondering if anyone have their arm start to swing again after taking levodopa. My left arm does not swing freely when walking. Left leg also does not move well either.

DHA for dyskinesia also improving sleep?
I'm doing Dr. Mischley's DHA protocol for dyskinesia (https://healthunlocked.com/cure-parkinsons/posts/150377221/high-dose-dha-and-dyskinesia-my-experience-so-far). I started my second bottle of high-dose DHA this past Friday. I feel like I'm experiencing almost exactly what she said she sees in her

Supplement Cocktail is working (Massive B1 OD) or is it the Fatty15
5/8/24: I am one of two PwP (that I know of) that are taking Fatty15. They have never found their B1 sweet-spot. They are lowering their B1 dose in hopes of finding their sweet-spot. I started lowering my dose of B1 on day 15 of taking Fatty15.
There is a good possibility that Fatty15 is responsible

Concentration of levodopa in plasma vs time curves for Madopar 100/25 IR, Madopar 100/25 CR, and Madopar 50/12.5 dispersible
Hello, I have been trying (unsuccessfully) to find the above graphs. In case someone has them, I would be really grateful if they could share the data. A link to a peer-reviewed paper would be best. Thank you in advance. D.

Weakness in the legs
Dear all, My neurologist once said that Parkinson's disease is such that it requires 24-hour treatment. When it is ON, when it is OFF, etc. The weakness in my legs and the first step bother me the most. It helps me to make the first step longer, to encourage a proper gait. It helps me to step in place

Levodopa Phobia
An interesting tweet by Dr Okun, found worth sharing The term ‘Levodopa Phobia,' do you know where it came from? Should we be more careful about how we apply this term? Should we be careful of applying labels to people and scenarios? Should we be considering the perspective of the person with Parkinson's
