His first symptom was hands that don’t work very well. Now he is struggling to hold or rearrange his cards playing bridge , cut his food, wash himself. Levodopa drugs don’t seem to help. He has tried various doses but either it doesn’t work at all or he is unable to reach a therapeutic dose without

roll back in medicines.
I wanted to share my experience, nothing to teach anyway. Months ago I had to stop pramipexole ( 1,05 a day ) as rigidity was causing problems. Had to switch to levodopa 25/100 half a pill twice a day. After some months, for my curiosity, I switched back to 0,52 pramipexole, quitting levodopa. Now it

Cerebellum Abnormality on CT Scan
I've been on HU for over a year maybe 2 and really didn't know if I had PD even though some symptoms seemed to fit. Just saw the movement disorder specialist who examined the CT and found an area on the scan with abnormality (he showed me) in the cerebellum. It fits many of my symptoms because I have

Gratitude; transitioning away from Levodopa; emulating John Pepper's Azilect program
Many thanks to this invaluable community! We (pwp & caregiver) have gained much insight from the folks here over the last few years, especially the courage to experiment with different approaches. Otherwise, our pwp would likely still be highly overmedicated, under the advice of his neurologist. He would

Side-to-side tap test results show long term improvement
Those of you who are "numbers" people may be interested in the side-to-side tap test app that I wrote. https://www.parkinsonsmeasurement.org/toolBox/sideToSideTap.htm This app counts how many times you can, using just your left hand index finger, repeatedly type q followed by p in a 30 second period

Levodopa Dose Adjustment
As many of you know after years being on HDT I am currently adjusting my dose (levodopa and thiamine hcl). I stopped B1 and restarted several days later at different dose. I adjusted the time I take levodopa. One thing I’m trying to do is improve tremor control. Tremors affect my sleep and thus my concentration

Long term use of large doses of ldopa. Any risks?
Kinda following on from my previous post about high concentration ldopa supplements. Several forum members - off the top of my head Strevenmast, ErnieDiaz, Cons10 (sorry if I got any of those wrong) - have reported good short (good symptom relief) and medium (for at least a year or more, and no nasty

Time release melatonin from Natrol interaction with C/L
Is there anybody who takes time release melatonin by Natrol or similar? It contains vitamin B6 which interacts with levodopa and I want to know the effect it has on PD symptoms.

Starting Mannitol
Do you take mannitol instead of Carbidopa? If not, do you cut down on Carbidopa if you take mannitol? Hubby is 195lbs. What would the dose be?

A question for my most knowledgeable friends around the world.
Recently, three years after my diagnosis, after I stopped mirapexin, I switched to an effervescent formulation of levodopa called Sirio 25/100. I take half a tablet in the morning and a half after lunch (plus 1 mg of rasagiline in the evening). Why is the best time of the day in the evening from 5pm

Dosing Information On HDT / B1 / Thiamine HCL / HCI For New Members Considering HDT Including a Link To Some of Dr. Costantini's Info
I have decided to make this post as a general guide to explain to new HU forum members how Dr. Costantini tried to determine the correct B1 dose for each of his patients via email. By doing this, one need only click on my icon to find it among the 14 posts that I have and this way, I won't have to write

99% ldopa products are not really 'mucuna'
Firstly, this isn't a negative post about ldopa supplements or mucuna. In fact, I have several containers of both. There's a number of articles and studies online that are quite positive about mucuna as a prescription levodopa alternative. Here's one that was posted in a recent thread: https://healthunlocked.com

A riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma!
I currently take 4 doses of c/l IR + c/l CR + entacapone on 3 hour intervals... Recently I skipped dose 4, and I found that dose 3 does not wear off for 6.5 hours! I have 2 theories at this time: 1. the effectivness of the entacapone increases with each successive dose 2. one of the other drugs I am

Levodopa being trialled for AMD
I wonder anyone has seen the information on the Parkinson’s drug in trials for AMD that is having positive results and is ongoing. See the link attached, I’m not sure this is happening in the UK. https://www.genengnews.com/news/parkinsons-disease-drug-stabilizes-age-related-macular-degeneration-and-improves-vision
