Help!!
Hi all, I am mum to a 32 year lad with
learning
disabilities
. He had a brain tumour as a child which was cancerous, he beat it but it has left him with some obstacles that we face each day. One of the main ones that I am struggling with is relationship/ sexual struggles.

Understand how social care can meet needs
I am interested to know how Social/Voluntary and Informal care can meet needs of adults with
Learning
Disabilities
particularly those in residential care Any advice on how these 3 services can support would be great or if there is anyone willing to chat further I would really appreciate it

Change of accommodation due to increased support
My 30yr old son (learning disability/AS) has lived in a studio flat ran by a charity for approx 5 yrs, It is predominantly to prevent people from being on the streets, not specifically for people with
learning
disabilities
. The staff are not there 24/7, or even every day during office hours.

Emotional regulation…..
As a school teacher, I work with kids that have
learning
disabilities
. Post Pandemic, the kids need more emotional support…..teaching coping skills and life skills. I have noticed that my emotional regulation around my adult siblings, husband, neighbors and friends ebbs and flows.

Failure?
I have 5 kids. 2 if which are jobless and on drugs. 3 at home with
learning
disabilities
and uncertain futures. I am a pessimist and cant help but see the negatives in my life. I feel that my failures, anxiety and depression are a contributer to my family's struggles. As a provider I have failed.

Hospital Experiences
It described the appalling treatment of people with
learning
disabilities
in NHS hospitals. Almost 30 years on I would be interested to hear if anyway has any experiences of where things have improved.

My bookkeeper died yesterday.
And I feel even worse because (And I know this sounds terrible, i feel the ugly of it) I have one more thing on my plate that I truly suck at, as part of my
learning
disabilities
. I totally feel like a scumbag for not just feeling the loss of the person and the kindness she showed.

Care agencies
Hi I'm wanting to find a good care agency in North Yorkshire that can provide carers to support my daughter who has
learning
disabilities
. The care would consist of taking her out to various activities including day services and providing support there.

What happens to personal savings when someone dies
I have an older brother with severe
learning
disabilities
. He lives in residential care and is funded by Continuing Healthcare. He now receives a state pension and I am financial appointee for him. My question is what happens to his money when he passes away?

Overwhelmed Again!!
She has
learning
disabilities
so I help her in every day life, but now I am worrying about things that I did not needed to before. She was responsible for her pets and she cleaned the apartment, but I helped when I could because I worked a full time job and she she stays home on disability.

Do learning disability teams have more understanding then generic MH teams?
for people with
learning
disabilities
and especially when the person challenges services. Are LD services more holistic and look at the whole of the person? where I think MH services only look at mental health? Have you had dealings with both MH and LD services? Whats been your experience?
