Do learning disability teams have more understanding then generic MH teams?

for people with learning disabilities and especially when the person challenges services. Are LD services more holistic and look at the whole of the person? where I think MH services only look at mental health? Have you had dealings with both MH and LD services? Whats been your experience? Or any experiences if you’ve only used one service.

learning disability you have help that is supportive. Mental health you are forced to stay in hospital and forced to have medication and to which is for life

Only know the MH my 33yr old is under, they have s117 after care, if have been inpatient. As for LD Services, my Son was put in a 12 week Educating Program Self Advocate, Stimming ideas, Self help. AMHT referred him to, which he learnt alot 1 to 1. He has ASDc,ADD, DD, D, Schizophrenia .

Can said SEND wouldn't take him on. So not sure how to get LD Support.

well over the last year me using CLDT services I liked them more than CMHT services. They have been amazing with me. Unfurtunately I have been deemed to have an IQ over 80 so don’t meet the CLDT criteria so they say so will be discharged over to the CMHT where the support is less. I’m dissatisfied. I liked feeling special under CLDT as they were really nice to be, coffees out, afternoon trips, shopping. With the CMHT this will stop right?
