Very anxious. My surgery is tomorrow. Endometriosis and adhesions + a 12cm solid tumor abutting my sigmoid. No idea what to expect! It is a laparotomy. Any thoughts?

Debulking Surgery Tomorrow
Hi , being anxious is completely understandable, deep breaths this morning, you will be well looked after and the operation will hopefully inform any further treatment. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. X
All the best with your op. Mine was a lot more bearable than I’d expected. You’ll be in good hands.
My top tips are: take loose fitting knickers and track suit bottoms (or similar) for wear afterwards- you’ll possibly be a bit sore and bloated; take mint tea bags to drink (it helps to get the wind moving through your digestive system; take some headphones and your favourite music to relax to. It was a godsend……and don’t be afraid to voice any of your worries (the nurses and care assistants were so helpful with me!).
Good luck, you’ll feel so much better when you know what’s going on.

hiya, I know how you’re feeling, I had to have an EMERGENCY operation last July (nearly died) had a major bowel obstruction, they found OC had grown into sigmoid colon and caused the obstruction, I recovered from that major op well and was told I would need debulking after chemo, I was not looking forward to the surgery after last year!!! I got not the ward and felt like bolting!!! however I didn’t and the whole thing went really well and I was surprised at how quickly I recovered, I am doing really well and now NED, you need to have this done, you do not want to have an obstruction, you’re going to get everything done at all he same time and you’re going to be fine, put your big girl pants on 😜all the very best for tomorrow, it’s going to be alright, I will think about you and send positivity your way xxxxx
I will say a prayer for you and send good healing thoughts your way from Atlanta, Georgia.
I personally found the laproscopic surgery to be minimally painful. Everyone is different but I was able to take short walks the next day.
The surgery discovered cancer in my case, and I am grateful I didn’t wait any longer to have the procedure.
I don’t know anyone who isn’t worried on this journey, especially for surgery… so I think everything you’re feeling is spot on. No matter what, I have learned we are stronger than we think. And you have people rooting for you.
good luck tomorrow! Did you insist on laparotomy or did the surgeon insist on it?
I thought of you throughout the day and hope your surgery went smoothly. Here’s to an uneventful recovery…
Hiya, hope you’re doing ok and everything went well xxxx
By now you will have been through it all. I do hope you are feeling relieved and pain management has been put into place. Take it slowly. Do everything the docs ask you to, and all the best for a good return to health.
Thanks everyone. Heading home today. Unfortunately it was confirmed to be cancer but the debunking was optimal. Now we wait. They saw a nodule on my appendix so took it too. Big big journey ahead. Your support means the world.
Hope your surgery went well…I had a 12cm OVCA tumor and endometriosis in 1999 total Hysterectomy and all visible CA removed…had 6 rounds of taxol and platin chemotherapy and 24 years of remission!
BTW mine also was close to bowels but I did not require a resection…
Love to you!
