Bradykinesia
I was diagnosed with PD 2 years ago, non-tremor and am just on Selegiline. At diagnosis I tried Madopar and later on Sinemet, looking back I think the drs then had me increase the dosage too quickly and soon I felt so ill I was unable to work. Not nauseous but completely fatigued, sweaty, felt terrible

Simemet
My Doc just put me on Simemet and lowered my neopro patch to 2 mg. I had started on LDN this week and wondered if I should hold of on the sinemet to see how the LDN does.

CHANGING DIAGNOSIS
Hi all, Took hubby to the neuro yesterday for her to test whether or not the sinemet is helping or not. She gave him the lower dose of what he is on and then after an hour decided the med does not make a difference in his condition and I disagree. She wants me to take him off of it completely, slowly

Father diagnosed with PD; no tremors, just really bad rigidity & stiffness
My father is a 76 year old who was dx with PD. He does not have any tremors, just really bad stiffness & his joints crack all the time. He loses balance & has fallen a couple of times. My question is, can it be possible that he was wrongly dx? He's taking sinemet 25/100 3 times daily. It has helped his

Taking Parkinson's meds with food
Hi all. I'd imagine not everyone is fully aware that taking Parkinson's medications, such as Sinemet or Madopar, ought NOT to be taken, according to the information given in the following link, at the same time as eating a meal with protein in it. The information seems compelling and, to me, even quite

I am so exhausted I can't see straight. D was up every hour to go potty and then has problems getting back into bed. Same issue, he says he can't get his legs on the bed and when I get up to check they are. Can I cry, I did last night :( Spoke to his Dtr today and she wants me to try upping the sinemet

I am a 68 year old woman who was diagnosed in 2002 with Parkinsons. I have been very fortunate in that I do not have dyskinesia symptoms unless I over-med. My symptoms are mostly freezing issues. I have been on sinemet (carbidopa/levodopa) since 2002 and have had good success; however I recently went

Sinemet CR - Shortage
In South Africa there is a shortage of Sinemet-CR, the rumors are that it's going to be 18 months before there is available stock!

Changing from Mirapex to Sinemet
I was on Sinemet for several months and a new neurologist changed me to Mirapex. I have been on it for two moths and it is not working as well as Sinemet. I have read several reports that it is very difficult to come off Mirapex. Has anyone come off it and how difficult was it?

Fast-Talking, Fast-Walking Contradiction
A couple short years ago, the ever vociferous John Pepper stated, "MAO-b inhibitors are capable of slowing down the progression of Pd. No other type of medication can, to the best of my knowledge, achieve this. As a non-medical person with Pd, I would like to know why this is not the best way to deal

Eating habits and supplements
Hello friends; Hardly any food tastes good to me anymore. Severe dry mouth adds to this problem. When I eat cookies and drink coffee or milk with it, I love it (who would not:) I hope this is a passing face, and that I will go back to a healthier way of eating. I was eating well, until,

I have nothing further for you!!
Those are the words that my neurologist said yesterday to my husband and I. I was diagnosed in January 2012 after my family doctor was sure my tremors, muscle stiffness and unsteadiness was nothing. In the past 2 years I've quickly titrated up to 2 tabs of Sinemet every 3 hours which was ordered 4 months

The effect CBD has on my Parkinson's symptoms
"Adding CBD to a consistent treatment regimen gives me one to two hours of improved mobility daily. Improved symptom management is difficult to quantify with PD. But in general when I can get five to six hours of sleep the same time of day, and am not titrating my Sinemet, Amantadine, or Deep Brain Stimulator

LSVT Big!
I'm 64, diagnosed with PD 18 months ago but have had symptoms of no left arm swing, rigidity of torso, leaning forwards when walking, and bradykinesia for some years before that, no tremor. I was initially started on Madopar with no positive response, just bad reactions and I felt so sick I couldn't

azilect
Hi -- I am new to this community and have a question which I hope can be answered. I am planning to have a colonoscopy in the near future. I am 78 and am taking sinemet and azilect. I have been reading that Azilect can cause problems. Has anyone experienced problems? I would appreciate your help

Rytery
I tried Rytery for 3 days in June. 3 capsules tid. I was completely frozen for the entire time. I quit taking it and went back to the Sinemet which I had been taking. Residual effect is that I started dragging my left foot and now walking is difficult. Neuro then prescribed Sinemet extended release

Compulsive Behaviour or Two Loves?
I was diagnosed 5 years ago. I was initially put on a low dosage of Sinemet 25/100 with 6 monthly visits to my Nuero Dr. As my condition worsened very quickly (or so it seemed to me) After trying the patches (Had a skin reaction) I was soon on the maximum dosage of Ropinerole (Requip XL) 3x 8mg per day
