My Doc just put me on Simemet and lowered my neopro patch to 2 mg. I had started on LDN this week and wondered if I should hold of on the sinemet to see how the LDN does.

Hi there,
I see you are from USA - I am from UK. I have been trying to get info on LDN but my consultant won't prescribe it. I was wondering whether or not your Doc was involved in the prescribing LDN or whether you have done this independently? Does he/she know that you are taking it & that you have just started?
Personally I keep all my support team involved in any changes that might be on the horizon - we work together. That said, whenever I have been in a similar situation where 2 new meds were being considered at the same time, I have double-checked which was considered the most beneficial & had a lead-in time for this - say a month. This gives time for any benefits or problems to show up. All being well the second med would be introduced after that time.
Did you get my reply my computer just went blank.
My neuro Doc. is at the University of Florida and I was just into see her. She said they were testing LDN and it sounded promising. I did get a prescription from a local Doc. and received it from Skipps Pharmacy in South Florida. There is going to be a 3 day seminar in Orlando in Feb. about LDN. I live close but decided to do the live webinar and listen to it on the computer . At the seminar I believe a book will be out called The LDN Book. The book is published by a company in Norwich, UK. One thing I read is that it cannot be taken with pain killers,(Narcotics.) or alcohol. I have read a lot of websites about LDN and it does sound promising but I think we should be careful and make sure its alright with Doctor. I was born in UK and wondered where you are from. Hope this is helpful.
I am originally from Manchester but I have lived in a village called Martley near Worcester for nearly 50 yrs. I married a farmer now semi-retired who has changed tack into bee farming.
Please let me know how you get on with LDN. My consultant says he doesn't as yet see the medical advantages but given its origin it probably makes one feel better.

In reply to the original question, holding off Sinemet is not a good idea yet since it can take several months before benefit from LDN is felt. When that benefit is felt is the time to cut back slowly. It is considered a dangerous practice to stop taking a medication suddenly - better to gradually reduce it over time.
For anyone in UK, you get LDN privately through Dr McCall, Clinic158 - tel 01413577357. They send questionnaire, then phone consultation, then send prescription to Dickson who send LDN to you. Few NHS doctors would prescribe it as it is not licensed and they could be struck off.
My experion with NEUPRO patch was that i had to stop completly using it before i achived the response i wanted.
I had terrible chestpaint , suspected the dopamin agonist to cause it and redused neupro to 2 mg but the pain in the chest was the same.
Stopping completly and waiting aboout 2 weeks and the tension/pain in the chest was redused about 80%.
I dont know the reason for you to reduse neupro but i found it strange what hapend to me.
Good luck with LDN
I did 2 days of LDN. I previously did about 3 months ( a year ago). I kept thinking it was making the pd worse. Last week the 2 nights that I started it I found it tremendously difficult to move at night when I was off my meds (sinemet). I was drooling and really bad off. Has anyone heard of this? I'm really scared to try it again. If its used for addictions, could it be blocking dopamine?
