Protein and levodopa absorption
Suspect food protein is interfering with levodopa absorption. Which strategies do you use? I can get terrible hunger pangs by 4am, which combined with RLS makes further sleep impossible. Is a banana or milk with cereal at one hour after Sinemet or two hours before effective?

Finding the balance between Dyskinesia and off time
While i know that there is no magic pill here , i am at my wits end on trying to find that balance . I also wanted to go natural , so it was suggested that a combo of mucana and sinemet (she can only take 1/4 of 25/100 sinemet) might alleviate it . Sometimes it seems ok, sometimes it makes her more dyskinesic

Pain and sinemet
Has anyone noticed an increase of pain after taking sinemet? I read that one persons pain was helpful in their pain but I seem to have the opposite, my overall body pain that many of us PWPs have is exasperated by the sinemet. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks

How is PD connected to Restless Leg Syndrome?
Or is it? I had a mild degree of RLS for several years. It wasn't enough of a problem to warrant medical help. Over the past few months the restless leg has gotten worse. Coincidentally two years I was diagnosed with PD. I was on Sinemet for over a year. Stopped it and switched to amantadine

Is there a limit on Dopaboost intake?
My dad is on a surgery waitlist for DBS here in Canada (probably next year) and we could potentially do FUS in Switzerland... But in the meantime, we have been trying to figure out the best dopamine sources to help him on the daily. Mucuna is much more effective than his Sinemet, which barely works anymore

Does Medication Help Handwriting?
I was diagnosed just over two years ago and am not taking any medication. My most discouraging symptom is slow, small handwriting. Have any of you found Sinemet or any other medication beneficial for handwriting? Unless or until other symptoms materialize, I will not take medication, but I'm curious

Magnesium chloride - dosing
I started using magnesium chloride gel two weeks ago, every night, along with my meds; it works great and sleep has improved to 5-6 hours. But I need up to 8 hours. How soon can you reapply the gel? Is it risky to “overdose on magnesium”?

Sinemet replies
Thank you all for your quick response to my post regarding Sinemet and I will follow up on your suggestions. Unfortunately I have a doctor who doesn’t understand how awful rls is - I asked for iron medication and was told that too much iron causes rls. It is a great disadvantage that we are unable

Pros and cons of Sinemet for RLS
I live in Spain and my doctor speaks very little English so I use an interpreter. I have been a victim of RLS for 50 years !! During coronavirus lockdown I notified my doctor I was experiencing daily RLS, and have now been prescribed Sinemet with no instructions. I try to avoid taking medication until

Recent deterioration in food interference with levodopa
Good morning all, I hope you are all safe and well. I wanted to ask if like me, you have experienced during the recent lockdown some level of deterioration. In my case I have observed that the Sinemet Plus is lasting less time (up to 3 hours in the morning but otherwise, 2 hours if I had food 1 hour

How long before levodopa starts working when first introduced?
I was diagnosed at age 70 about a year ago and prescribed Madopar 50/12.5, but resisted taking it until about 5 weeks ago by when a left hand tremor had developed to supplement the Bradykinesia, stiffness, awkward walking etc. Until now nothing’s happened. I was wondering whether it’s normal to take

Other reasons for arm tremor?
If Sinemet or other dopamine agonists have no effect on tremor does that suggest the root problem is not a dopamine deficiency?

CARBIDOPA FOR MUCANA ??
Whats the Carbidopa to be given with Mucana?? Mucana has been something we gave mom a few years ago , but that was before she had the fall which left her completely bed/wheelchair bound . I have been fighting a lot of battles as the doctors almost gave up when they should have been trying to help. Long

Looking for people who have phased out Carbidopa/Levodopa in favor of an all-mucuna program
I was diagnosed in 2006, and have progressed through Requip, Sinemet, and Rytary, recently exploring mucuna in place of Rytary. My maximum dosage of Rytary was four capsules of 3.75/95 four times a day; I have gradually reduced my Rytary amount to three capsules in the morning, followed by 350 milligrams

Could I ask your opinion on my symptoms please?
Hi All I wonder if I could get your opinions on my symptoms. I was diagnosed with idiopathic PD just over 2 years ago and my decline has been rather more rapid than I might reasonably have expected. I have many of the classic PD symptoms from resting tremor in my right arm, to bradykinesia, very awkward

Mild vertigo made worse
Mild vertigo made worse when I had ankle surgery and will be in this boot for 6 weeks or more. Maybe I have PD but signs no worse than a tremor. Could core exercises help? Should I think about re-starting Sinemet? It never did anything to help the tremor.

Swallowing and Throat issues
I have been experiencing a weird sensory trigger in my throat any time the PD medication (C/L) is wearing off. The same sensation is relieved as the next medication dose kick me back. It cause me an uncontrollable and annoying clearing the throat reflex that is driving nuts to me and my relatives.
