Thank you all for your quick response to my post regarding Sinemet and I will follow up on your suggestions. Unfortunately I have a doctor who doesn’t understand how awful rls is - I asked for iron medication and was told that too much iron causes rls. It is a great disadvantage that we are unable to communicate freely due to the language difficulties as I don’t speak Spanish very well.
Does anyone else besides not being able to keep legs still, suffer from a horrible feeling at the base of the spine? It is like overstimulation of the nervous system. Thank you.

Over the counter "gentle" iron is reasonably sufficient as an iron supplement for RLS. You don't need a prescription. It's available in supermarkets here.
In fact prescription strength iron may upset your digestive system more than anything else.
Sorry I've never had the sensation you describe although as RLS is, in a manner of speaking, an oversensitive nervous system, I guess it could be related to your RLS.
