Missed immunosuppressant dose
Hi all! I'm hoping you can put my mind at ease. I was blessed with a kidney transplant 2 months ago, and for the first time forgot to take one of my 12hr doses of tacrolimus and Myfortic last night. I took my meds as usual this morning however. I'm terrified of an acute rejection episode. What is the

Paired kidney donation question
I’m thinking of doing the paired
kidney
donation
program for my father to receive a
kidney
. Does anyone know if I do this, do I get a guarantee that he’ll receive one in x amount of time?

After at least 25 years and visits to my Gp I finally mange to convince my doctor to give me a FIT test and feacal calprotectin test along with 13 blood tests. I couldn’t go on with the being told it’s probably ibs and not ruling everything else out. The

Radiation urethritis lead to Hydro-nephrosis - ? nephrostomy tube
Both of my dear husbands ureters were damaged from pelvic radiation from a year and half ago and caused about 3 inches of ureter scar tissue to the kidney which lead to both right and left kidneys to now have hydro-nephrosis. He has been in so much pain for the last 3 months. Over the last 5 1/2 years

Is this news to anybody?
A new treatment for terminal head and neck cancer patients - combining two immunotherapy drugs, nivolumab and ipilimumab. The CheckMate 651 trial, funded by Bristol Myers Squibb - showed especially good results in tumors with high levels of a marker called PD-L1. I don't know that any of this could pertain

Hair Loss
Hi everyone, I have been on dialysis for 9 months. I am on the registry for a liver and kidney transplant. Along with other symptoms that so many of us suffer from, it is devastating that I have lost half of my hair : (( This started about 6 months into dialysis. Thyroid issues have been ruled out

Immense sweating
I am 2 yes 9 months post kidney transplant. Has anyone had issues with immense sweating that your hair is sopping wet? I thought it could be my thyroid but that’s not it. Apparently my blood work is stable. I’ve asked the transplant team, nephrologist and an Endochronogist….. no answers. I am wondering

Have really bad stomach pains/constipation since changing to the chewable tablets. Anyone else?
I have been taking Caltrate calcium + Vit D3 supplements for over a year with no problems at all. Sadly I can't get these in Cyprus anymore so I've bought an alternative called Natecal D3, which are chewable. I've been taking them for 4 days and have developed bloating, wind, constipation all day

Another EGFR Formula "flaw"
My doctors all (5 different specialties) tell me to monitor my Creatinine and not my egfr as the egfr formula is not a great reflections of actual kidney function (it does not consider other medical conditions, other medications, one or two kidneys, labels people as having CKD while their Creatinine

How we grow and empathise through shared story
It's UK Kidney Week #UKKW2021 which really means there happens to be a big virtual conference happening in the renal community this week. I'm thrilled to be part of the conversation in self care with a brilliant human chairing, Dr Kate Bramham, on Friday. Kate was the on ward consultant last September

gfr results
Last year I received a telephone call from my GP advising me I had stage 2 CKD and was told to carry on my normal diet and have another blood test in one year. My GFR results were around the mid 50's for 3 years previous although nothing was mentioned to me by my GP. No other information was given

Bio-artificial kidney
Hello everyone I hope you're doing good. 😊 Do you think this permanent cure (bio-artificial kidney) is possible anytime soon? It's supposed to replace dialysis and even kidney transplant. I know the concept has been around for a few years now and didn't get anywhere for various reasons, but it seems

Alcoholic experiencing liver tenderness and random pains yet ultrasound and bloods do not indicate cirrhosis.
I’ve had shoulder pain, random liver pains and occasionally my lower right rib cage is tender to even touch. I explained my concerns to my doctor, had blood screening and full abdominal ultrasound, gallbladder, liver, kidneys, aorta etc we’re all within the norm, the spleen slightly on the large side

I graduated on Sunday!
Finally! For me, this is actually the second time I graduated. I started during the first lockdown last year. I then got Covid, so had to stop, then restart. Spring 2020 also coincided with my moving to a different area, so with all the prepping for moving, I did not complete it until after the move.

Discussed water consumption with my kidney doctor
I'm 72, stage 3 (sometimes a, sometimes b). I see my kidney doctor every few months. Not much purpose to see more often as there really are no medications, tests, etc., that are going to change anything. She just likes to test my urine and blood every few months to see how things are going. This

Acute kidney injury , worried!!
Hi all, my brother has been found to have thromobotic microangiopathy (on kidney biopsy) secondary to APS and likely complement dysregulation. He is on dialysis and plasma exchange. Doctors are saying the kidney injury is reversible but will take time. Anyone can throw some light on what to expect as
