Some Blood Results are in...? Hmmm,,...?
Hi Folks I had a range of tests this week, FBC, TSH, Liver function, Kidney function, Vit D, Potassium, and Folate. But no Active B12 or Active Iron or IF test. The MMA result has yet to come in. Here are the results of the B12, but also the others that ( to me ) are the below range or low

Targeting iron metabolism in immune system cells may offer a new approach for treating systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
T cells may exhibit multiple metabolic abnormalities in SLE patients. Excess iron may damage mitochondria and this may contribute to lupus. US researchers have studied T-cell metabolism in lupus and found that iron appeared to be a common denominator in many of the T-cell problems. They also found that

Latest results - looking better?
Hi, I had my latest round of Medichecks "Ultimate Performance" results the other day (tested at 9am, fasted as per protocol). I'm doing these blood tests every 3-4 months to try and optimise things; energy, mood, brain-fog. I am doing quite well, subjectively probably somewhat better than previously

Ferritin level from last blood work
My first ferritin level was an 11 (11 to 300's) is considered within normal range. This week my ferritin was up to 39 in 2 1/2 months. I am going to send results to my neurologist since my GP is working with him on my RL problem. At our last meeting he wants me to try another 3 months of oral iron

Timings of taking vitamins/supplements
This time I have a question about vitamins and supplements. I'm currently taking quite a cocktail in order to sort out my thyroid and because I'm trying to conceive. But I'm confused about which to take when, and which together/not together. This is my current routine: First thing/middle of the night

Low Ferritin
I did a private blood test (medichecks advanced thyroid function) and my ferritin came back low 22 ug/L (range 30-150). So obviously there's an issue there. Is it a take an over the counter supplement and eat black pudding and liver regularly type of thing or do I need to fight to see the GP? I was put

Help please!
I am on levothyroxine 175 Monday to Friday and 150 at the weekend . My TSH is 12.23 reference range 0.30-4.20. T4 is 17.1 range 12.00-22.00. I was told in October we should try and bring it down to 0.1 so increased by 25 mg Levoth on Fridays. The GP called me last night to say that I have to increase

First dose of AA
I took first dose (70g) and 48 hours later can hardly walk with acute rib, hip and chest pain. Cant believe how debilitated I am and the pain is intense, does this settle down ? Low vit D and iron levels too which are being addressed by GP however cant go on like this. Any advice gratefully received!

Spirulina - any advice or experiences?
As you can see from previous posts, I have struggled to bring my iron and b vitamin levels up for a while, despite increasing my intake of both supplements...this has led me to look at spirulina as something that could possibly help, as there are quite a few reviews of this product from people saying

I stopped taking CARNOSINE supplements because I became aware of the possibility of hydrazine contamination.
I stopped taking CARNOSINE supplements because I became aware of the possibility of hydrazine contamination. Hydrazine is a toxic chemical that has been used in the synthesis of carnosine. I previously was quite excited about the supplement carnosine. It is a small polypeptide which, if I recall correctly
